Preference is given to those twenty-five and over.

In a low-tech and equipment-free environment, the studios offer visual artists a place that is only limited by the imagination. The space honors the creative process with time to explore, experiment, refine, and develop in the world of ideas without the need to fully realize a finished product. The cozy and comfortable writer studios, the visual artist studios, and the residence have internet access.

Jentel is especially attractive to those who wish to take responsibility for themselves and their daily routine, while they focus on their studio work, engage with the expansive landscape, and share in a small community of creative individuals. Here artists and writers experience unfettered time to allow for thoughtful reflection and meditation on the creative process in a setting that preserves the agricultural and historical integrity of the land. Solitude is balanced with the opportunity to form a community.

Studios/Facilities Details

In a low-tech and equipment-free environment, the studios offer visual artists a place that is only limited by the imagination. The space honors the creative process with time to explore, experiment, refine, and develop in the world of ideas without the need to fully realize a finished product. The cozy and comfortable writer studios, the spacious visual artist studios, and the residence have internet access.

The 400 square foot studios for visual artists have a large glass top table on wheels, 1-2 large wood top tables, a short stool on wheels, a chair on wheels with adjustable height, a bag with a variety of hand tools. The smooth surfaced walls are painted white, accept nails, hooks and screws as does the ceiling. Overhead spot and florescent lights provide adequate illumination for work in the evenings. One standard window offers a view of the landscape, so artists may have maximum use of the walls for working and viewing art in process. The ceilings are fourteen feet high. The studio includes a work sink with hot and cold water. The building has a bathroom, small kitchen area, and phone for outgoing emergency calls only.

The writers have comfortable and cozy studios adjacent to the visual artist studio building. Each includes a work table, ergonomic chair, two book shelves, reference books, cork board, small collapsible table and a recliner with blanket. A window faces out onto the landscape.

Both buildings are a short stroll across the parking lot from The Residence.
