πŸ”” NEA Extends GAP Deadline to April 7th, 2025, and Pauses Compliance Orders πŸ””

As of March 10, 2025, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has extended the Grants for Arts Projects (GAP) application deadline from March 24 to April 7, 2025, and paused enforcement of the Assurance of Compliance requirement tied to Executive Order 14168, which had required applicants to certify that they do not β€œpromote gender ideology.”

This pause follows a preliminary injunction in a related case (National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education v. Trump) and affects similar language in the ACLU-led lawsuit filed by Theater Communications Group, Rhode Island Latino Arts, National Queer Theater, and The Theater Offensive. The NEA has clarified that, pending litigation, applicants will not be required to make any compliance certifications related to the executive order.

πŸ”” Plan Ahead: New Visa Rules and Processing Delays Impacting Artists in 2025 πŸ””

Since the implementation of a new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services fee rule in April 2024, arts petitioners have faced visa processing delays and unexplained petition rejections. Visa applicants should anticipate slower timelines and increased scrutiny.
