Membership Benefits + Levels

ACA offers membership to any organization or program that’s primary purpose is to support artists and creative thinkers in the development of new work. Member benefits will vary and depend on membership level, see below for a complete outline of member benefits by level.

Organizational Membership

Organizational Membership is for any organization, association, or person(s) that has been hosting residents for more than five years, or is tied to a larger institution like a museum, college or university, or foundation regardless of program length. Organizational Member benefits are available to all staff members of the organization or program. 

BENEFITS:

  • Program promotion - Members can maintain a full profile in the Directory with the ability to share information about multiple residency programs and multiple open calls. Member deadlines appear in the Residency Opportunities Newsletter, with over 24,000 subscribers, and have the opportunity to be championed through ACA’s social media platforms.
  • Resources - Members have access to resources and research specific to the field of artist residencies. 
  • Registration discounts - Members receive a discount on any paid programming, including Equitable Capacity workshops, Evolving Program Institute, and ACA Convenings and Conferences
  • Grant eligibility - Members are eligible to be partners with ACA for consortia and regranting programs
  • Job listings - Members can post job opportunities on our Job Board.
  • Participation in Networking Groups - Members can participate in a variety of networking groups in order to make and maintain connections in the field, address pertinent topics regionally or structurally within programs, and find support and mentorship.
  • Access to ACA online programming - Members are able to participate in all ACA programming and have access to all accompanying resource materials, including members-only #ResidenciesConnect networking sessionsField Conversations, and other programs. There is always a member discount for paid programs. 
  • Access to special alerts and opportunities - Members gain access to professional development opportunities, advocacy and more. This may include promotion and entry to special events from our partners or access to alerts and other benefits.

Emerging Program Membership

Emerging Program Membership is for any organization, association, or person(s) that is within the first five years of founding AND has been accepting artists for less than three years and is not tied to a larger institution. Emerging Program Members will be asked to renew at the Organizational level when their program has been established for more than five years, has been accepting artists for more than three years, or has been an EP member for more than three years — whichever occurs first. Emerging Program Member benefits are available to all staff members of the organization or program.

Individual Membership

Individual Membership is for those who have previously worked within, supported, or are currently working, in the field of artist residencies, at a program that is not an ACA member, and wants to maintain ties to the network and field at large.

  • Registration discounts - Members receive a discount on any paid programming, including Equitable Capacity workshops, Evolving Program Institute, and ACA Convenings and Conferences
  • Participation in Networking Groups - Members can participate in a variety of networking groups in order to make and maintain connections in the field, address pertinent topics regionally or structurally within programs, and find support and mentorship.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate Membership is designated for any organization committed to artists and the creation of new work whose primary mission is inextricably linked to creativity, but does not operate a residency program. Affiliate Member benefits are available to all staff members of the organization or program. 

BENEFITS:

  • Visibility and Promotion - Affiliate members can maintain Organizational profiles to represent themselves in the Directory and post job opportunities to ACA's Job Board.
  • Resources - Members have access to resources and research specific to the field of artist residencies. 
  • Registration discounts - Members receive a discount on any paid programming, including Equitable Capacity workshops, Evolving Program Institute, and ACA Convenings and Conferences
  • Access to ACA online programming - Members are able to participate in all ACA programming and have access to all accompanying resource materials, including members-only #ResidenciesConnect networking sessionsField Conversations, and other programs.
