Created in 2019, El Boga’s mission is to develop cultural, academic, and artistic activities that strengthen the intangible heritage of the World Heritage site of Mompox, add value, and foster dialogue between the local community and visitors.
We have:
- Received over 100 artists in residence ;
- Hosted over 1000 free workshops in disciplines ranging from gastronomy to theater.
- Developed strategic partnerships with local schools, local craftspeople, the Secretary of Tourism and Culture of Mompox, cultural institutes, arts schools, universities and art galleries.
Our community-oriented artistic residencies prioritize the preservation of Mompox’s local talent, fostering interventions that gain recognition and generate revenue for its creators.
- Musical Collaborations: Italian musicians and songwriter Gregorio Uribe partnered with local groups to produce new compositions and videos.
- Visual Arts: Artist Fredy Clavijo worked with blacksmiths, ceramists, and songwriters to create unique sculptures.
- Ongoing Innovation: Designer Milena Denis Polania developedg fiber-based objects with local artisans
