Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft is a nonprofit craft school and artist residency located in Columbia, North Carolina. We provide immersive workshops, residencies, and community programs in ceramics, metalsmithing, woodworking, and other craft disciplines, welcoming artists from across the country while serving our rural region. Our programs support artists at every stage—from youth exploring creative careers to emerging and established artists advancing their professional practice. Through scholarships, public programs, and partnerships with schools and community organizations, we expand access to high-quality craft education in eastern North Carolina. By connecting artists, educators, and the public, Pocosin Arts strengthens both the regional creative economy and the national craft field.

Pocosin Arts is seeking a Chef for our Summer Workshop Program to plan, prepare, and serve healthy, enjoyable meals for participants and staff, with thoughtful options that accommodate a range of dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and food allergies.
This position requires collaboration, strong communication skills, excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks with flexibility.
The Chef is responsible for overseeing the kitchen, leading daily shifts, and delegating tasks to Summer Fellows to ensure food preparation is efficient, accurate, and timely. The Chef will plan weekly menus and ensure that all meals are prepared and served to standard.
The Chef must be knowledgeable in food safety protocols and responsible for completing and supervising all cleaning and closing procedures.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of and experience in food service
- Can support the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals three times a day for 25-35 guests
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals

Compensation + Benefits
This is a full-time, seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits.
- Contract Period: May 30 - July 25, 2026
- $12,200 for the contract period to be paid in two installments on June 26, 2026 and July 25, 2026.
