Civitella Ranieri is an international, multi-disciplinary artist residency program that brings together composers, visual artists, and writers to work communally without judgment or interruption between April and October each year. Based in a 15th-century castle in Umbria, Italy, Civitella’s residency program is dedicated to fostering an environment supportive of self-directed work and exchange in a unique and inspiring setting. The New York office is charged with the behind-thescenes work to ensure the program’s success, while building community and engagement among alumni and other supporters. 40 hours per week. Four (4) days on site in the office space in Tribeca and one (1) day remote. There is the possibility of occasional hours outside of the regular 9am-5pm schedule.

Description and Qualifications

The Civitella Ranieri Foundation seeks a creative, resourceful, and proactive Communications Coordinator (full-time, hybrid) to join its small, collaborative team, working out of the New York office in Tribeca. 

The Communications Coordinator will plan and coordinate the organization’s communications and promotional materials both print and digital, including developing a regular newsletter, updating and maintaining website content, and managing social media communications in order to help increase support for and awareness of Civitella Ranieri’s mission. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, and working closely with the entire team in NYC and in Italy, this person will also provide support for advancement initiatives, events and programming at the NYC office, and attend to administrative tasks like travel booking. 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a desire to be in service to artists, a commitment to building community, and a keen awareness of digital trends and best practices. Excellent writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and strong project management and organizational skills are essential. Proficiency with WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Suite, Mailchimp, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms is required. Two years of experience working in communications/design within a cultural organization, non-profit, or similar, with demonstrated success, is preferred. Familiarity with Italian language and culture is a plus. 

Primary Duties: 

Social media 

  • create and implement overall communications strategy and coordinate all campaigns 
  • organize and manage communications calendar 
  • develop content for and maintain Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and any other social accounts
  • manage and track online community engagement Newsletter and Website 
  • plan, produce, and send out e-newsletters every other month 
  • lead on creating new content and updating/maintaining content on website 
  • manage communication with external web developer 

    Development Support 

  • lead on communications for fundraising campaigns 
  • prepare email blasts for events, fundraising, important news, etc. 
  • help design Annual Appeal language and approach 
  • design print and digital promotional and informational materials as needed 
  • collaborate with external graphic designer and other vendors as needed 
  • maintain the Foundation’s database and shared drive and keep all mailing lists up to date 

    Travel Coordination 

  • research, propose, and book round-trip travel for Fellows, Staff, Winter Session participants, and other Civitella parties 
  • track travel expenses and issue reimbursements 
  • work with travelers to ensure smooth travels

    Alumni Engagement 

  • engage with past Civitellians online and in person 
  • monitor news and social media for updates and upcoming events 
  • organize CRF representation at US-based events 
  • assist with organization of programs at CRF NYC offices 
  • brainstorm and carry out new methods of communicating with Civitella community 

    Compensation 

    The starting salary range for this full-time, non-exempt position is $50,000- $55,000 dependent on experience, with a generous benefits package (fully paid health benefits including vision and dental; paid vacation and personal time off; employer retirement contributions after one year).
