Friendsgiving with Donkeys

Friendsgiving!

You have the desire and need for a residency, but limited time options while you balance your creative projects with personal and business commitments. Apply today for a Friendsgiving escape to this lovely place where you can spend as much time on your creative work as well as interacting with the 15 cute, joyful, and fascinating donkeys - mostly miniatures. They want to be your friends!

Thanksgiving in 2025 is in the final week of November. Options include just that one week, two weeks (arrive the week before or stay a week later), or 3 weeks in some configuration. The air is fresh this time of year and the sun sets early allowing you to hunker down. Be inspired by the natural world and the possibly starry skies, this is a prime time to coordinate your creative intentions.

Farm stay scholarship slots are limited for this time period. If you are interested in a more immersive experience contributing 6 hours a week (for one or two weeks) in fall projects yet to be determined, please note on the application and apply sooner than later for best option.

Maximum spots available - 8 - each with a private room (shared bath or ensuites). Bring a creative friend and choose one of the three ensuites as a double occupancy (participant count could increase based on this). We'll have a group Forest Therapy walk on Friday. With at least a few participants, there's opportunity for social interactions including brief presentations about your work.

Residency Fee includes one group meal per week. Friendsgiving will be included as that week's meal, but may be non-traditional in the menu plan - usually vegetarian, pescatarian, and gluten-free emphasis rather than traditional turkey and stuffing. Each person may be asked to help out in some way before or after the meal.

No pets allowed besides service animals for this cohort time period.

Additional Eligibility Information

Let your creativity FLOW LIKE THE BUFFALO river on the edge of our acreage. Applicants with nature as their muse, inspiration, or collaborator will receive priority.

Individuals must be able to let the normal world and lifestyle go during your stay and it is encouraged that you utilize the time and access to the benefits of being away from contemporary society. If you cannot go a day without your favorite coffee shop visit, have fast food on the brain, or need lots of people around to function, this is not the place for you.

Be prepared for a different sense of time here and your project goals may actually go faster because you don't have your normal life distractions. Please review the policies and other information about the place on the main website www.sarasvati.space including a blog about past participants.
