6okken Residency
6okken is an artist-run residency in Oishi, a small village on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi at the foot of Mt. Fuji, about two hours from Tokyo by bus. Six houses stand together, and the artists who run 6okken live and work in the same cluster. Each resident or group has a whole house with its own kitchen and bathroom, plus a shared studio.
Terms are 26 nights, eleven times a year, arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Wednesday. The 2027 terms start on Jan 22, Feb 19, Mar 19, Apr 16, May 14, Jun 25, Jul 23, Aug 20, Oct 1, Oct 29 and Nov 26. We meet each resident online before they arrive, pick them up at Kawaguchiko Station with a welcome lunch, stay in touch by chat during the stay, and drive them for research and shopping up to twice a week. There is no required final presentation.
