DE PROEF. is an heritage restoration programme, open to host artists at the former Horticultural School in Frederiksoord it is situated. This UNESCO site is in the historic former Colony of Benevolence, a history which is is still present at times in Frederiksoord. We believe in the importance of inviting different perspectives and creativity to our gardens. 

What’s on offer:

- A stay in a lovely residency space in rural Netherlands. You will have your own room, a shared kitchen, atelier and living room.

- Complete creative freedom over your project, with the sole condition that it is connected to the garden, sustainability and/or the plants, and that we may post about it.

- Unlimited access to a beautiful eight-hectare (!) garden. 

- Bi-weekly residency dinners (made with our homegrown vegetables) with the PROEF. team

- Subject to agreement, your work may be published in our garden magazine or an exhibition

For an additional fee, you can use the specialised tools in our wood workshop with a team member

What to bring with you:

- We ask for a fee of 100 euros a week to help sustain our residency programme

- Enthusiasm and a good mood :)

- Food for yourself (there’s a kitchen available at the residency and a supermarket nearby)

- The materials you need (we only have basic supplies here)

Collectives/duo’s are welcome. We recommend a stay of 15 days. De Proef can be reached by bike, public transport and car (De Proef does not reimburse travel costs).
