Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts serves as a nexus for artists who create with clay. We foster the growth of artists at all career stages via residencies that prioritize the development of creative community. During a residency, artists work alongside one another in our open-concept studio while forging lasting connections.

Mission

The Wassaic Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, uses art and arts education to foster positive social change. We nurture connections between our artists and our neighbors facilitating a mutual broadening of perspectives and respect across economic and cultural boundaries.

Vision

The Wassaic Project envisions a community in the Hamlet of Wassaic and its surrounding region that is socially inclusive, generous, cooperative, and economically vibrant.  

Vermont Studio Center (VSC) was founded by artists in 1984. We welcome writers and artists for residencies in Johnson, Vermont, and host online programs and events. Our mission is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. Our buildings, many of them historic Vermont landmarks, overlook the Gihon River in the northern Green Mountains.

Vashon Artist Residency is on the beautiful Puget Sound. Artists are awarded accommodations along with artist studios and writer’s spaces for 3.5 week sessions throughout the year. Our self-directed residencies are open to artists at all levels. We are committed to offering this opportunity to artists from disparate economic and racial backgrounds. We welcome artists working in the disciplines of music and sound composition, literature, theater, dance, media, and the visual arts.

The Steel Yard’s historic campus is a platform for professional artists, makers, and the community to practice and learn the industrial arts. The organization fosters creative and economic opportunities, by providing workspace, tools, training, and education while forging lasting links to a local tradition of craftsmanship.

Ragdale is a nonprofit artist community located on the former country estate of Arts & Crafts architect Howard Van Doren Shaw and poet and playwright, Frances Wells Shaw. Through residencies, fully funded fellowships, and thematic collaborations, Ragdale annually supports approximately 150 artists, designers, and scholars from around the world, all of whom are seeking time and space to pursue distinctive works of the imagination. 

The Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency (EMAR) program by Collar Works is designed to provide a diverse group of emerging and established artists an immersive, inclusive, supportive, productive, and communal atmosphere for art-making and dialogue on a bucolic 77-acre farm in Washington County, New York. The summer residency is offered for 5 weeks, with 2 and 4-week residencies for individual artists and 1-week residencies for families.

Founded by American artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill (1905-1972), the Camargo Foundation fosters creativity, research, and experimentation through its international residency program for artists, scholars, and thinkers. Since 1971 Camargo has hosted nearly 1,500 individuals working in the arts and humanities from all over the world. Located in Cassis, France, on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, the Foundation offers time and space in a contemplative and supportive environment.

Surel’s Place honors the legacy of artist Surel Mitchell by offering her home and studio to artists of promise, and of renown, for month-long residencies and professionally supported art events. In this inspiring live/work space artists of all disciplines are given time and freedom to reflect, create, and share their work with Idahoans of all ages and backgrounds.

Create in Tranquility! Soaring Gardens Artists Retreat in the country near Laceyville, PA. offers visual artists, writers, composers & other musicians summer residencies of three weeks between May & October. We have two resident/studio buildings accommodating a maximum of six artists. No demands, simply spacious studios, pleasant rooms, nature and time.
