The Mentoring Artist Residency was the core program at our founding, and it has served over 3,500 emerging and mid-career artists from many disciplines. The residency is unique in that it is a mentoring program that couples prominent Mentoring Artists with selected Associate Artists for three-week periods. Since residencies are process-based, and not product-driven, time can be spent on previously existing projects, on new experiments, or on collaborations. The residency is also unique in that it focuses on creating conversations and the sharing of ideas between three disciplines per program, which can include visual artists, writers, dancers, and musicians as well as many other types of art. ACA believes that the spirit and challenges of being an artist are shared by all disciplines and that we can learn much from coming together, sharing our work and ideas, and collaborating on projects. 

The three mentoring artists for this residency are: 
• Fatimah Asghar- poet, screenwriter, educator, and performer,  they were a recipient of the Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation, and listed on Forbes’s 30 under 30 list.
• Molissa Fenley- choreographer/dancer, she is of the most influential artists of postmodern dance.
• Jeremy Kittel- Grammy-nominated violinist, fiddler, and composer. 

Rest Retreats at the Respite Roundhouse grant nature-infused rejuvenation and healing for those in need of rest.  Open for booking April - July 2025. Retreatants will choose their own self-directed retreat during seasonal, available dates. $40/per weekday night. Weekend bookings available at reduced, market-rate if can stay for minimum of three nights. your choice : self-cleaning or paid cleaning.

This is a live/work residency that is embedded in a small (9-room) hospitality business called Travelers New Orleans. New Orleans, like most cities, has become increasingly unaffordable for artists and others who seek to live creatively. At Travelers New Orleans, artists are provided housing on the third (top) level of a light-filled three-bedroom, two-bath apartment in the Lower Garden District neighborhood. A fourth room is available for office/limited studio space. Artists help run the hospitality business by committing to work about 15 (paid) hours per week, and the hospitality business, in turn, funds the residency. Hours may vary depending on season, but 15 is a solid average. Artists are encouraged to create onsite (there are some space limitations) and there are opportunities to showcase work in the lobby gallery, which looks on out world-famous Magazine Street. The goal of this residency is to provide an affordable, creative, supportive environment for artists at any stage of their careers. 

The Steel Yard’s Micro-residency program can assist you in growing and strengthening your creative industrial art practice with flexible time commitments. Micro-residencies are an ideal opportunity for you to complete a specific project, commission, or prototype within a limited amount of time. Micro-residencies are available with a one-month minimum commitment, and a three-month maximum commitment.

The Steel Yard supports emerging and mid-career artists working in the industrial-arts: ceramics, welding, blacksmithing, or jewelry. We host one ceramics and one metals micro-resident at a time. Micro-residents receive an all-access pass to our 10,000 square foot studio, tools, resources, and community.

Accepted residents are invited to take, or teach, courses, attend critiques, participate in exhibitions, vend at art markets, be paid to design and fabricate public art work, and be part of a vibrant community of makers.

Residents will be required to sign a contract detailing responsibilities, privileges, studio access, and safety procedures. Residents will also be expected to contribute at least 5 hours of work time to the department monthly, and to participate in organizational fundraisers and departmental clean ups. Upon completion of their term, residents should expect to provide the Steel Yard with 5 images of the work created during their term, or as a direct result of their time at the Yard.

Ma’s House’s Artist-In-Residency program is open to US-based creatives of color working in any genre of visual art, creative writing, and performance arts.

We encourage resident artists to pursue work that relates to or is inspired by Shinnecock’s history, the local landscape, community based work, and critical engagement in issues of diversity, race, and identity.

The Oolite Arts’ Studio Residency Program provides artists with the time, space and resources to reach new levels of excellence. Oolite Arts Studio Residents receive free studio space at the organization’s headquarters on Miami Beach, in addition to critical connections with arts leaders, exhibition opportunities and financial resources that can lead to career-changing opportunities, and a community where artists can learn from each other and experiment with new work.

Studio Residents who have lived in Miami-Dade County for at least two years will also receive the Knight Artist Housing Stipend, a $12,000-a-year stipend to ease the impact of the region’s affordability crisis, thanks to support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Newnan Art Rez offers residencies to emerging and mid-career artists from various disciplines so they can pursue their art away from everyday pressures while engaging in community experiences that enrich Newnan and Coweta County’s cultural environment. Art Rez encourages experimentation, development of new ideas, learning of new skills, and interaction with the community. Residency should be a time of rich exploration for the artist and the community.

Overview

The Leighton Artist Studios comprise nine distinct studios suitable for individual artists working in the following disciplines: 

• writing for stage and screen
• composing and songwriting 
• literary arts
• visual arts 
• critical and curatorial writing
• interdisciplinary practices not requiring technical support or equipment rental.  

A tenth studio, the Painter House, is suitable for groups of two to ten artists working collaboratively. Formal and informal collectives, ensembles, inter-disciplinary collaborators and Indigenous cultural groups are invited to apply for residencies at the Painter House. 

Leighton Studio residencies are geared to professional artists working on major research-creation projects or new bodies of work. The program is best suited to artists who are self-motivated, focused, and wanting time and space for introspection. 

Projects must fit within one of the artistic disciplines outlined above. The application must include a clearly articulated project description and a resume that demonstrates a strong record of accomplishment. Applications are externally adjudicated. Artists are selected on the basis of artistic merit. The program is highly competitive given the limited number of studios available. 

The Leighton Artist Studios do not provide access to external specialized production facilities or technical support.
