An art residency provides the technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas and try new approaches. It is a moment that promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and consequently the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Aviário Studio Multidisciplinary Residency aims to promote exploration and production in the Visual Arts. Artists can develop projects using a medium or a combination of technologies. Aviário Studio is an artist-run space with workshops equipped to develop works on Printmaking, Ceramics, Wood, Metal, Sculpture, Installation, Drawing, Painting, Photography and Bookbinding.

We offer the conditions to test possibilities and materialize ideas. On one hand, it can be a moment of transition, more connected to experimentation and research; on the other hand, it can be the point of consolidation of a project translated into the production of a new body of work.

The duration, focus and outcome of the residency is defined by the participating artist’s goals. 

Open AIR is a place-based Artist-in-Residence program that connects artists from all disciplines and origins with culturally, historically, and ecologically significant locations through collaborative partnerships in Montana.

With innovative opportunities available in places such as remote wilderness areas to historically significant sites closer to town, artists can draw inspiration from a regional community dedicated to preserving place, environment, and the arts.

In 2024 Open AIR has four sessions: Spring, Summer, Summer II, and Fall. We have residencies at 13 different sites in Montana, including; Selway Bitterroot Frank Church Wilderness; Flathead Lake Biological Station, Polson; Travelers' Rest State Park, Lolo; Butte, MT; Philipsburg, MT; Hamilton, MT; Clark Fork Coalition, Anaconda, MT In Missoula, Open AIR has residency sites at the Missoula Public Library, Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium, Garden City Harvest, Moon-Randolph Homestead, Home ReSource, and Montana Natural History Center. 

Each residency provides a unique opportunity for artists to be embedded in a site that allows the artist to engage with place, and the communities and resources associated with each site. The residency is free, and housing and a modest stipend are provided. Artists are responsible for transportation and food.

The multidisciplinary General Residency Program is our foundational residency structure. I-Park supports artists and designers working in the following creative disciplines: Music Composition, Creative Writing, Moving Image, Architecture, Landscape/Garden Design and Visual Arts.

Between 6 and 8 artists reside onsite for 4-week sessions. Residents are provided a private bedroom, a private studio and chef-prepared dinners five nights a week. Shared amenities include a communal kitchen, a Common Area for group gatherings, a library, 25 art/nature trails, wireless internet and a workshop outfitted with tools, materials and equipment.

I-Park’s resourceful staff is devoted to providing each artist with a fulfilling, productive, safe and comfortable live/work setting. Institutional demands on artists’ time are minimal. We aspire to provide competent, personalized support including removing distractions that could otherwise prevent them from realizing their most ambitious projects.

The residency program is set within an expansive nature preserve, with open fields, miles of walking trails and stone walls, ponds and streams – and a pristine river runs through it. We believe that this quiet, retreat-type environment is especially conducive to the creative process. Over the years, the land has inspired a passionate interest in site-responsive art.

Except for a $35 application fee, the residencies are fully funded.

Typically, between 50 and 60 residencies are awarded each year.

Nawat Fes offers fully funded residencies in the eighth-century medina of Fes, Morocco to U.S. and international creators in multiple disciplines. The initiative engages art to cultivate understanding among multifaceted cultures through the exchange of ideas. Hosted by the American Language Center Fes / Arabic Language Institute in Fez, a member of the American Cultural Association, Nawat Fes is a new program that hosted its first residencies in May 2022. Residencies are free, and artists receive a living stipend.

Artist residents live and work in the ancient medina of Fes, which is considered one of the most extensive and best conserved historic cities of the Arab-Muslim world. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Fes medina is one of the world’s largest pedestrian zones, containing narrow alleyways leading to ancient architectural treasures, traditional houses, artisan workshops and open-air markets. Within this unique setting, Nawat Fes provides a supportive environment for research, reflection and artistic practice, allowing artists from around the world to experience and learn from Moroccan culture, and to contribute to the local cultural conversation.

BOOM Concepts is a creative hub dedicated to the advancement of Black, Brown, Queer and Femme artists. BOOM Concepts is located in Pittsburgh and since 2014 has curated 50 exhibitions on-site, paid out over $100k in artists fees and produced 200+ events across the country. BOOM Concepts serves as a space for field building, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and storytelling. In its 8th soon to be 9th year, BOOM Concepts continues to work with creatives to find innovative strategies around entrepreneurship and artistic practice. In 2021, BOOM Concepts was selected to represent Pittsburgh for the Google Arts & Culture platform and was identified as an American Cultural Treasure through The Heinz Endowments and The Ford Foundation.

The BOOM Universe Residency at Alloy Studios is an in-house program that hosts multiple visiting artists quarterly. BOOM Concepts supports visiting artists in a multitude of ways including housing (the space includes full kitchen, bathroom, studio/practice area, and an area for rest), creative practice support, an opportunity to participate in BOOM programming, connecting visitors with Pittsburgh’s art ecosystem, along with allowing for space for rest from their busy careers. BOOM’s main support is focused on the advancement of Black, brown, femme and queer artists, and creative entrepreneurs understanding the need for such experiences that are vital to ones career growth.

ARTS Southeast is excited to invite you to apply to the ON::View Artist Residency! Located in the heart of Savannah’s Starland District, the ON::VIEW Artist Residency provides a free, high visibility studio space for an artist to complete a new project, to continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research exploring conceptual, material, performative, and social practices. The studio’s large windows look out onto Bull Street, the district’s main thoroughfare, allowing the artists’ work to be on view to the community at all times. ARTS Southeast's visitors and passersby on the sidewalk witness the artists’ process as it unfolds in real time, seeing all the steps involved from concept to final execution. Community events like workshops, performances, public art projects and artist talks, offer creative ways to interact with the public. The ON::View Residency supports artists from across the globe, working in all media.

Just five blocks east of the Residency Studio, the 5th Dimension Apartment features a full kitchen, bath and main room to comfortably house the Artist (+1 guest if requested) for month-long Residency stays. The 5th Dimension Apartment has a private gated entrance and private garden with plenty of space to create, lounge and entertain. 

Sunny Savannah ON::View Artist Residency - fully funded - Jun - Sept 2026

Located in the heart of historic New Orleans, The New Quorum Artist Residency program provides emerging and established musicians, composers and writers with a focused period of time to pursue artistic development, exchange ideas, and engage with the larger New Orleans arts community. Residents can expand their artistic potential through interaction with peer artists in an atmosphere that encourages new work free from the restrictions of the marketplace and academia.

Our Artist Residency program is designed to immerse talented professional musicians and writers from across the world in the culture of New Orleans, providing these artists with life-changing experiences and converting them into global ambassadors for New Orleans music and culture. The New Quorum seeks to distinguish itself from other local and national artist residency organizations with a special emphasis on bringing accomplished international artists to New Orleans, facilitating cultural exchange between visiting artists and those who live and work in New Orleans, and by shaping all its activities for maximum benefit to local musicians, writers, and the community at large.

Bunnell Street Arts Center's "Alaska AIR" Artist-in-Residency program seeks international, US and Alaska artists looking to create new work and deeply engage Bunnell’s community. 

Bunnell seeks artists to strengthen the social, physical and economic fabric of Homer through the arts by addressing pertinent themes. These may include accessibility, inclusion, decolonization, sustainability, skills sharing and exchange, enhancing community well being, joy, or artistic strategies to build connection within communities. 

Mediums include, but are not limited to, visual, literary and performing arts, social and civic practice, ephemeral art, moving image, movement, music composition and performance. 

Alaska AIR residencies are generally scheduled for one month, October - April. The program provides a $2000 artist stipend, travel, lodging, and studio/gallery space. One to four Alaska AIR residencies are awarded annually, as Bunnell’s funding and scheduling permit.

In 2017, the Murray- Holman family partnered with Collar Works to design a summer residency program for visual artists, with unique opportunities for individuals and families. Dedicated to supporting the legacy of Elizabeth Murray, Collar Works believes there is a kindred connection between its mission and what Murray’s story symbolizes to emerging artists, to those who are artists as well as parents, and to individuals who overcome adversity to achieve their vision.



The no-cost to attend, fully supported summer residency program is designed to accommodate 5-7 artists in residence per week, including onsite staff members. Artists are provided 24- hour access to semi-private studios, artist stipends, private bedroom accommodations, and shared bathroom facilities. Daily dinners are prepared by a chef-in-residence and served in a communal atmosphere to foster dialogue between residents. Breakfast and lunches will be provided. Artists will have the time and space to work in their studios to develop new works, with the opportunity to share in conversation with peers, meet with visiting curators (COVID permitting), and engage with the surrounding art communities.
