The Buinho Residency program is directed at creatives and researchers from different backgrounds.

Buinho creative hub opened in Alentejo (Southern region of Portugal) with the support of a curatorial team with over ten years of experience in the organization support of other residency programs in Portugal.

Since 2016, Buinho has been successfully growing the number of applications making it a sought-after artistic residency program. Today Buinho is a European reference for being among the only artistic residencies based on a Fablab that enhances creative experimentation.

We started with only one house which accommodated two residents and the fablab, but today we have three houses, shared and individual studios, the digital fabrication workshop, and exhibition spaces. And finally, together with the local municipality, we now also offer access to a metalworking workshop dedicated to sculpture and plastic recycling.

We have since then received visual artists, performance artists, photographers, curators, writers, sculptors, designers, media artists, confirming the eclectic nature of our program.

Buinho is one of the very first rural FabLabs in Portugal, that provides artists with endless possibilities for experimentation. WOWArtSci welcomes artists and scientists to explore their passions in a natural retreat setting with total quiet, dark skies (Bortle 2), and easy access to a vibrant, diverse, and historic community of artists and artisans. We are located on the Taos Volcanic Plateau aka 'The Mesa' - approximately 13 miles from downtown Taos, NM. 

We offer 11 day/10 night supported residencies with a small cash stipend.

Residents are housed in a private 900 sq. ft. Casita with kitchen and bath. To keep the Casita friendly for all of our future residents and guests we request that no toxic or perfumed chemicals be brought onto the property. 

Residents have private access to a small lofted barn studio 10'x12'. The studio has basic art supplies, a wash station, and large workbench. A list of available supplies will be provided before arrival. Residents can also work anywhere outside on our 20 acre property.

This is a rural and somewhat remote location with uneven ground, cantankerous weather, and high elevation. Please contact us with any accessibility questions or concerns.

The Montello Foundation provides a solitary retreat where artists can experience the vastness of a desert landscape from a safe building, a “base camp” a unique space for inspiration and creation, a place that provides a shield from distractions in the solitude of the desert.
A building designed with a large shading roof under which there are two distinct spaces: one space for the bodily needs: eating sleeping washing, and a stove for the cold desert nights, and a second space for work: for writing painting drawing studying, a space for the first materializations of new ideas.
There is no cost for this program. Artists must cover travel and living expenses.

Vermont Studio Center (VSC) was founded by artists in 1984. We welcome writers and artists for residencies in Johnson, Vermont, and host online programs and events. Our mission is to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. Our buildings, many of them historic Vermont landmarks, overlook the Gihon River in the northern Green Mountains.

For over three decades, our residency program has offered residents and the general public an opportunity to engage with global creative communities.

We are excited to announce the evolving relationship between our two technical residency programs that will be concurrently hosted at our partner campus Camp Colton, in fall 2022 and spring 2023. Applications are now open to apply to either our letterpress printing focused residency, or our hand papermaking focused residency. There is no fee to apply or participate, more details on the application process below.

For both residencies we are hoping to engage with artists working with the theme(s) of land, flora and fauna, place, craft, ancestral knowledge, time and related themes. Successful applicants will speak to how their art/craft practice relates to these ideas. Examples of experimentation with process and connection to materiality are also encouraged via applicant work samples.

By hosting these residencies concurrently, we envision opportunities for convergence and conversation between these allied art forms as well as between the residents. The rural, secluded setting of Camp Colton grounds the residencies in connection to nature and provides time for focused engagement with craft.

Surel’s Place offers month-long residencies in our one-bedroom home with a spacious studio for artists aged 25 and older to focus on their work and their creative processes.

We are located in the heart of the Surel Mitchell Live-Work-Create District, a vibrant blend of artist studios, single-family homes, new urban condos, wineries and breweries, creative businesses and riverside activity (including a surprising surfing community built around a wave and whitewater park). Though the home and immediate surroundings are quiet and peaceful, the residency is just a short walk along the river to Boise’s downtown core. 

The program is open to visual, literary, multimedia and performance artists of promise and renown: we have hosted painters, sculptors, writers, musicians, composers, filmmakers, choreographers, immersive VR artists and many others. What our artists have in common is a need for a quiet place to create.

Applicants can be at any point in their careers or creative journeys. We recognize the value of process and look to support artists who approach this time with purpose and intention.

We believe artists of all backgrounds and disciplines should be supported and amplified for the  the value they add to our individual and collective lives. We aim to give artists the time, shelter, and professional support their work deserves. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we can offer a stipend of $100 per week for living expenses.

ARCAthens’ mission is to provide opportunity and support to Visual Artists, Curators, and Scholars to further their research to focus on bridging international dialogue, cooperation, and understanding.

A place to write and film and create. To find and renew creativity while surrounded by spiral-vined gardens, creaky wraparound porches and towering magnolias. To walk among the whispers of friendly ghosts and pastoral splendor. Quiet nights and productive, inspiring days, imaginative minds awakening, sweet music originating, the savory aroma of a country meal, the satisfaction of a finished page or canvas. The Bowers House Creative Retreat offers customized workspace for artists and academic residency programs in literature, music and some fine art disciplines. We are currently accepting applications for minimum one week group or single residencies, where baths and kitchens are shared and clean up is essential. Resident members agree to provide for film and audio programming a recap or focus of their creative work via readings, concerts, public performances interviews workshop directorships or lessons for BOWERS HOUR, the fundraising programming program that keeps the facility on a perpetual operation. Visiting guests may be present, and room and facility rentals keep the lights on in the 100 year old hotel, and cooperation and quiet consideration of work day time is observed by all who stay here. We welcome collaborative production and cosponsorship when possible with the missionl of one day being able to provide this opportunity to those who might night be otherwise able to have this residency experience.
