Phoenix Athens Gallery and Residency

Location

89 ASKLIPIOU
11472 ATHENS
Greece

Founded by artist Dimitri Yin in 2018, Phoenix Athens offers artists and creatives from all backgrounds and nationalities with the time, space and facilities for professional and creative growth. The residency program includes a large workshop or “makerspace” , a gallery space and two living quarters. Residencies last between one and two months with several formulas for the residency plans available. These are the Full, Light (for recent graduates and academics and recent graduates) and finally, the Locals Only formula for residents of Athens. Key focal points of the project are inclusion, social justice and ecology.

Phoenix Athens Gallery and Residency aims to demonstrate how art and design can transform societies and individuals through artist-engagement and the creation of tangible and lasting art. Since its founding, Phoenix Athens has exhibited over 100 creative practitioners from Greece and abroad. Phoenix Athens draws on the progressive culture of contemporary Athens and its historic legacy of resourcefulness and resilience. Visiting artists are encouraged to explore new technical methods and to focus on theoretical and personal growth and development by providing a workshop or a talk. Visiting artists are also given an opportunity to market and sell any work they exhibit in the gallery during their residency.

Phoenix Athens is committed to lifelong learning for artists and academics alike. We are currently partnered with College Year in Athens which hosts interns from private universities in the US, and the Europe-based Erasmus+ program which provides internships and exchanges for European academics in the arts. At any given time, two assistants are on board to provide technical, logistical and administrative support. Exhibition curation is usually shared between the artist and the director and the artist.

Residency applications and letters of interest to co-curate or host an event at the premises are always welcome. While there is no deadline for submitting a letter of interest or residency application, we ask that candidates provide this information at least three months in advance.

Truro Clay Works

Truro, MA, United States

The Truro Clay Works Artist Residency invites three ceramicists to join our creative community for a one-year term starting October 5 of 2026. Residents live in a large fully furnished communal home with private bedrooms, two full shared bathrooms, living room, laundry room, pantry and kitchen. There is 24-hour access to a separate and fully equipped communal ceramic studio on site. This is a great opportunity for an artist to explore a new body of work or collaboration. The residency is designed for independent artists who appreciate both quiet focus and a shared creative environment — a place where craft, nature, and community intersect. We welcome ceramic artists of all backgrounds and approaches — from functional pottery to sculptural and experimental work.

Artists with experience in glaze chemistry, gas kiln oxidation and reduction firing and/or skills teaching hand building are particularly encouraged to apply.

This residency is ideal for those seeking dedicated studio time within a supportive, relaxed environment surrounded by nature. Applicants must be self motivated and independent in their personal studio practices as well as being community minded.

Fees are $1,500 per month, which includes housing, utilities, full access to the studio and 50lbs of clay each month. Additional clay can be purchased at cost.

Residents are expected to contribute an exchange of 16 hours per month, approximately 4 hours per week, toward the shared operations of Truro Clay Works.

Dune Shack Residencies

Provincetown, MA, United States

The Provincetown Community Compact announces 2026 dune shack residency applications are now open for C-Scape and Fowler Dune Shacks in the Cape Cod National Seashore, available April through November. Applications are due January 15, 2026. thecompact.org/dune-shacks.html

This artist retreat is an experience of solitude, reflection and experimentation. Artist residencies take place in the C-Scape Dune shack, which does not have running water or electricity. There is a kitchen equipped with a gas stove and refrigerator, and kerosene lamps and portable solar lights for lighting. Phone service is inconsistent and there is no Wi-Fi.

We offer three 3-week visual artist residencies, one for an emerging artist of color* that includes a $500 fellowship, named for the late David Bethuel Jamieson, a Black artist who spent time in Provincetown and died of AIDS in 1992. Another top juried artist will receive a $500 fellowship with their residency.

The Compact also offers 1-week residencies for artists and the general public, and two 1-week funded residencies for writers.

*An emerging artist of color is defined as one who has yet to receive a major exhibition or showcasing opportunities and has not had extensive media coverage for their work. Artists of all ages may apply.

We also invite applicants to donate a voluntary "Honor Tax", which will be donated to the Native Land Conservancy, providing an opportunity to move beyond land acknowledgement.

Deep Space Performance Residency

Highland Lake, NY, United States

DEEP SPACE is a performance residency program for artists and groups who are experimenting and making new works along the fringes of the mainstream. We believe performance that pushes the envelope in form and content requires time and space beyond what is customary, in order to allow artists to dig deeply into the processes of creation and production. DEEP SPACE provides artists with use of the NACL performance hall and artist residence for a period of rehearsal and development (one week residencies are typical, April-November) culminating in a public sharing with an invited audience.<br>

Deep Space Performance Residencies support artists or ensembles creating new works at any stage in the development process, from concept through technical production. Each year we attempt to schedule a mix of early-phase, mid-phase, and late-phase projects for week-long residencies at our Cultural Laboratory and Artist Residence in New York’s southwestern Catskills. We accept applications throughout the year. There is a Jan 31 deadline for consideration for residencies offered in the following calendar year. Our Curation Council — made up of past Deep Space artists and NACL artistic staff — convenes in March and finalizes programming decisions by May.

The Deep Space program is open to groups or ensembles as well as individual performing artists engaged in the creation of new work. We prioritize projects that stand to gain the most from the resources of space and time that the NACL residency center uniquely provides. The Deep Space Residency Program is designed expressly to accommodate the needs of ensembles and group projects, and is inclined to support creator-performer, performer-driven, or collaborative creation models over standard script-based productions.

All residencies are partially-subsidized by NACL. The level of subsidy is based on fluctuating availability of public and private funding. Upon selection as a Deep Space Artist, the applicant will review the financial forecast with NACL staff, and may be asked to help raise funds to support a portion of their residency costs. Currently, at minimum, all artists/companies are responsible for arranging and funding their own transportation to/from NACL and for covering a portion of food costs at $12/person/day. The studio is on the third and fourth floors of one of Pieve’s Medieval palazzi and includes a 50-square meter studio (538-square feet) with 4.5-meter high ceilings (15 feet), three gallery spaces, a small library reading room, a catering kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, and a roof-top loggia with views of the mountains.

The studio is located in Pieve di Teco, in the Arroscia Valley. This offers a walkable town experience with services, restaurants, and coffee shops. Pieve di Teco is an historic town with roots dating back to the Roman era. It is located at the crossroads of the salt trade route leading from the Ligurian coast to Piedmont. As such it grew rich and prosperous from the salt tax. Several wealthy families built their palazzi along what became the arcaded road through town. During the Middle Ages, the town thrived as a hub for commerce and culture. The town’s architecture reflects this rich history, with medieval structures, churches, and narrow cobblestone streets that transport visitors back in time.

Pieve di Teco has also been known for its agricultural activities, particularly olive cultivation and olive oil production, which have been vital to the local economy for generations.

Itinera Arte Artist Residency Program

Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil

Itinera Arte is an independent platform for contemporary art based in Rio de Janeiro, dedicated to the research, education, and dissemination of artistic practices.

Founded in 2019, it operates at the intersection of education, creation, and curatorship, promoting courses, artist residencies, exhibitions, study trips, and cultural mediation programs.

The Itinera Arte Artist Residency offers an immersive and experimental environment for artists from diverse contexts and disciplines, fostering dialogue between contemporary practices and the historical and urban landscape of Rio de Janeiro. The program combines curatorial mentorship, collective exchanges, studio visits with Brazilian artists, field activities, and public exhibitions, encouraging the development of critical and collaborative processes.

Guided by its own pedagogical project, Itinera Arte conceives the residency as a space for shared learning, where artistic practice becomes an exercise in listening, reflection, and research. The program seeks to integrate practice and thought, linking critical formation, aesthetic experience, and engagement with territory.

Acting autonomously and collaboratively, Itinera Arte reaffirms its commitment to the valorization of plural epistemologies and to art as a field of thinking, encounter, and transformation.

Itinera Arte Artist Residency Program 2026:

Places I inhabit, places that inhabit me

From March 5 to April 30, 2026

The Itinera Arte platform, based in Rio de Janeiro and in collaboration with Arquipélago Carioca, announces the second cycle of its international artist residency program, open to both Brazilian and foreign artists.

The residency is aimed at contemporary artists at any stage of their careers, working across a wide range of media — painting, drawing, video, performance, sculpture, installation, among others — who are interested in exchanges with professionals in the field and in direct contact with the cultural environment of the city.

Grounded in the identity of movement and displacement that defines Itinera (to travel, to transit, to wander), the program encourages the sharing of knowledge in motion, in dialogue with the living historical landscape surrounding Guanabara Bay, at the heart of Rio de Janeiro.

“Places I inhabit, places that inhabit me” invites sensitive investigations into the act of inhabiting as an aesthetic, political, and affective experience.

The residency welcomes artists interested in exploring the multiple dimensions of space — territory, city, home, or body — and the entanglements that arise from them.

Participants are encouraged to examine the places they inhabit, reflecting on how our bodies, gestures, and narratives intertwine with these spaces, granting them meaning — and, simultaneously, how these places cross through us, shape us, and inhabit us in unexpected ways.

The program aims to open a poetic and critical reflection on the experience of inhabiting, stretching the boundaries between the intimate and the collective, the ephemeral and the permanent, while exploring the poetics of everyday life as a way to perceive, understand, and imagine the spaces we occupy — and those that occupy us.
