Seto Art Residency at Salt Road Studio

Location

869 Park Ave 2A
Brooklyn , NY 11206
United States

Seto Art Residency at Salt Road Studio is a fully funded international artist residency located in Akō, Japan, a historic coastal city along the Seto Inland Sea. Designed for contemporary visual artists, the residency provides time, space, and financial support to develop new work while engaging with Japanese culture, community, and landscape.

Each year, only three artists are selected for a three-week residency experience. The program includes round-trip airfare, accommodations, studio space, and a stipend, allowing participants to focus entirely on their creative practice. Artists live and work together in a collaborative environment that encourages experimentation, dialogue, and cross-cultural exchange.

Founded by artist and curator Gina Keatley, Salt Road Studio connects creative communities between Japan and New York City while supporting emerging and established artists from around the world. The residency welcomes painters, sculptors, mixed-media artists, photographers, and interdisciplinary practitioners seeking an immersive international art residency experience.

Additional Accessibility Information

The house is spread over three floors, each accessible solely by stairs, including the main floor. Parking is 20 metres from the house. Due to the remoteness of the village and of this rural region of Portugal, driving is recommended, though there are bicycles available, which residents can use to roam around or to get groceries or other necessities in the nearby towns. Please note that cycling here is sometimes steep, since we are in the mountains, and the roads, while often empty, are still roads. It is not recommended to bicycle after dark, since there are few streetlights. Walking to town is an option but has a duration of a little over an hour. There is a bus on Thursdays which goes to Arganil, and there are taxi services available. Necessities are delivered to town throughout the week: fresh bread, fresh fish, market items (fresh produce, pantry staples). All relevant information and telephone numbers will be available to residents in the house.

McLennon Pen Co. Summer Artist-in-Residence

Austin, TX, United States

Each summer for the past three years, McLennon Pen Co. has transformed the traditionally quiet month of August into a period of artistic production and public engagement through our Summer Artist-in-Residence program.

While many galleries worldwide close during August due to decreased attendance, we chose to reimagine this lull as an opportunity. Rather than allowing our gallery to sit dormant, we invite an artist to work within the space for the month, culminating in a public presentation of newly created work in September.

The residency provides critical support at pivotal career moments — post-graduation transitions, visa applications, international representation expansion, and financial instability — while simultaneously activating Austin’s cultural ecosystem.

Art on the Block NYC

Location

107 W 86th ST
Store 4
NYC, NY 10024
United States

Art on the Block NYC was established with the dual purpose of making art more accessible to the general public and offering practicing artists a venue to create and display their artwork. Through short-term residencies in a New York City storefront, Art on the Block NYC seeks to spotlight these artists. Throughout these residencies, artists will transform the space into their studio and exhibition space, while simultaneously hosting programs for youth, families, and adults. These programs include art-making workshops, artist interviews, and more. The overarching goal of Art on the Block NYC is to support and advocate for artists while providing local communities with opportunities to engage with art.

Art on the Block NYC fosters a vibrant community by offering a dynamic platform where artists and the public unite. We are dedicated to cultivating an environment where art creation and interactive experiences thrive, enabling hands-on engagement and accessible programming for all. Our mission is to empower artists, inspire community collaboration, and enrich lives through the transformative power of art.

Stone Quarry Art Park

3883 Stone Quarry Road
Cazenovia, NY 13035

Stone Quarry’s Visiting Artist Program focuses on artists’ engagements with the landscape in a variety of materials, approaches, and disciplines. Stone Quarry envisions the park as a boundary object, a space that anyone can imagine, contribute, and collectively shape. The Visiting Artist Program positions responsiveness and collaboration at its center to create inclusive and equitable relationships with artists. Visiting Artists are awarded a stipend to create a project on the grounds. The Program is both process and project-based, which makes each artist’s conversation and time with Stone Quarry designed to fit the needs of the artist and their work.

We do not accept submissions for this program. Stone Quarry's Artistic Director administers invitations to participate in the visiting artist program. This process is guided by an Art Advisory Committee, a group of independent artists and scholars whose wide-ranging expertise informs the programming and advances the organization's commitment to equitable and inclusive practices.
