The artist residency at nina Idyllwild is a queer-centered program dedicated to LGBTQ+ artists living in California.

Located at nina's Idyllwild outpost in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County, about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, the residency offers time, space, and creative refuge away from the city.

​Each residency supports either one artist or a creative duo/collective—whether emerging or established— for a fully funded two-week stay. ​

With no distractions and the quiet of the forest as backdrop, residents are invited to immerse themselves in deep work, reflection, and creative renewal.

• Personal welcome: residents are greeted on arrival by nina's programming team and taken to dinner in town​

Expectations​

• Residents are self-directed and self-sufficient—the residency does not provide production, fabrication, or technical support
• Accepted applicants will participate in a kickoff call with the nina team and all members of the season's cohort before their residencies begin
• All residents agree to take part in an end-of-season artist showcase and salon hosted at nina in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, where the cohort will share work and reflections with the community

The Keyhole Workspace Artist-in-Residence Program at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art is for artists living in New Haven and the Greater New Haven Area. This is a studio only residency and we are unable to offer housing at this time.

There are 2 cohorts (spring and fall) held each year. Each cohort is made up of 3 artists. Each artist is given their own studio space and a small monetary stipend to go towards material costs.

Throughout the 4 months of the residency art professionals (curators, writers, critics etc) visit and offer feedback. These meetings are casual and include a sit down family style meal.

Each artist must agree to spend 15 hours a week in their studio, host a public facing community program, and make themselves available for events such as Open Studio, gallery receptions etc. Each cohort includes one Open Studio opportunity for the public meet the artists, share their process and network.  

Salt Road Studio Residency is a fully funded international artist residency located in Akō, Japan, a historic coastal city overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Created for contemporary visual artists, the residency provides dedicated time, studio space, housing, and financial support for artists to develop new work while experiencing life in Japan.

Each year, only three artists are selected for an immersive three-week residency. Participants receive round-trip airfare, accommodations, studio access, and a stipend, allowing them to focus entirely on their creative practice. The small cohort size encourages meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and exchange among artists from different backgrounds and disciplines.

Founded by artist and curator Gina Keatley, Salt Road Studio connects creative communities between Japan and New York City while fostering artistic growth through cultural immersion. Artists are encouraged to engage with the landscape, history, food culture, and daily rhythms of Akō while pursuing independent studio work.

The residency welcomes emerging and established painters, sculptors, mixed-media artists, photographers, and interdisciplinary practitioners from around the world. Through dedicated studio time, shared experiences, and cross-cultural exchange, Salt Road Studio Residency aims to support experimentation, creative development, and lasting international connections.

CASA PIP is a selective residency open to people who work within all fields of filmmaking. Our residents are selected by a jury of film professionals, and selected residents are given a free stay for up to one month in a house in the mountains of central Portugal. Founded by and designed for filmmakers, CASA PIP offers residents peace and space to work independently in any capacity they require, giving residents sole access to the entire house for work periods of up to a month. CASA PIP is an unstructured, no-rules residency. Residents may use the space to write, research, edit, experiment, play, think, or rest, depending on their specific creative needs. 

Each resident is given a free stay at CASA PIP for a period of up to one month. It is a two-bedroom house, so they are able to bring partners, children and/or pets, up to a maximum occupancy of 4 people. Residencies do not overlap with one another.

The application fee is 35 Euros.

The Nancy Ingersoll Foster Artist Residency Program
 is presented by the Elizabeth Lane Oliver Center for the Arts in Frankfort, Michigan. This 2-week program provides a working retreat for a visual artist to focus on a special project while exploring the inspiration and peacefulness that northwest Michigan offers. The Residency will be held at the Parsons Center for Arts and Sciences in Lake Ann, Michigan. Exhibits and workshops will take place at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort, MI. Both locations are near Traverse City and the Sleeping Bear Dunes coastline of northern Michigan. The Parsons Center for Arts and Sciences is an 86-acre interdisciplinary educational center and natural area. The Resident will have access to the private house, grounds, and large studio space.

Oliver Art Center provides:

• 2 weeks’ private lodging and access to the Parsons Center's and/or OAC studio spaces
• $500 honorarium upon after completion of the Residency
• Opportunity to exhibit at the Oliver Art Center after completion of the residency
• Interaction with and support from our staff, artist members and instructors
• Web, email and social media promotion throughout the residency

The Resident agrees to:

• Provide an educational workshop, demo, or lecture
• Share promo material from OAC
• Donate a small work to OAC
• Supply their own food
