Chulitna Lodge Wilderness retreat seeks to provide the time, space, clarity, and facilities for all forms of creative professionals or researchers to make and meditate. From visual artists, writers, scientific researchers, music, dance and more, we encourage all to apply for our various programs.

Chulitna Lodge is 180 miles from the nearest road, with fly-in access only; a historical landmark on the shores of Lake Clark National Park. 

Cheekwood is a historic estate and gardens that were designed by Bryant Flemming and built by Mable and Leslie Cheek, Sr. between 1929 and 1932 in Nashville, Tennessee. Given in 1958 as a public institution for fine art and botanical gardens, Cheekwood today consists of 55-acres of gardens, Modern and contemporary sculpture trail, and a British inspired mansion with period rooms and art galleries containing American and British furniture, decorative arts, American painting and sculpture.

Bunnell Street Arts Center's "Alaska AIR" Artist in Residence program invites artists to explore creative placemaking and themes such as accessibility, equity & inclusion, decolonization, sustainability, anti-racism, skills sharing and exchange, community wellbeing, and more. Bunnell sparks artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska. Artist-led projects may be in any media or genre.

Located on the Italian Riviera near Genoa, the Bogliasco Center awards one-month residential Fellowships to gifted, international individuals at all stages of their careers who are developing significant new creative and scholarly work in the following disciplines: Archaeology, Architecture/Landscape Architecture/Design, Classics, Dance, Film/Video, History, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Public Humanities, Theater, and the Visual Arts. During their stay, Bogliasco Fellows are provided with living quarters, full board, and a work space. Travel expenses are not covered, but a number of Special Fellowships are available, some of which include a travel stipend. The unique composition of the Center’s carefully curated groups results in a vibrant and creative exchange, with conversations expanding beyond traditional boundaries, and cross-disciplinary collaborations often arising. Since 1981, Bemis has provided more than 1,000 artists dedicated time, space, and resources to conduct research and create new work. Bemis offers artists private live/work studios, financial support, technical/administrative assistance, and opportunities for intellectual discourse about contemporary art.

Belwin is a land-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting wild spaces and connecting people to nature. Just 15 miles from St. Paul, Belwin protects over 1,500 acres of prairie, savanna, and woodlands in Minnesota’s Saint Croix Valley region. 

Starting in 2016, Belwin has operated an annual artist-in-residency program for artists of all mediums. Beginning in 2023, artists in residence were selected through a partnership with Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery.

CORSICANA ARTIST & WRITER RESIDENCY supports the creation and presentation of art and literature with generous provisions and historic space.

Artists and writers are hosted for two-month, funded studio residencies to produce career-shifting work in rare scale and focus, with generous support and immersive space, in an historic setting fifty miles south of Dallas, Texas. Residents are hosted at 100 West – a vast, three-story former Odd Fellows lodge, virtually unaltered since its 1890s construction. Studio work is prioritized and complemented by introductions to professional networks and world-class institutions in North Texas.

This residency takes place in downtown Corsicana - the birthplace of the Texas oil industry and the intersection of this country’s cultural and geographic South and West. Oil booms in the 1890s and 1920s produced an exuberant setting, which declined in care and use by the late 20th century before reviving in the last decade. The complex story of rural and small-town America contributes generative context to this residency experience and consequentially enriches contemporary art and literature.
