Located 20 miles southeast of Sheridan, Wyoming, the Jentel Artist Residency, now in its 25th year, offers dedicated individuals a supportive environment to further their artistic development. Jentel offers 3-week residencies from mid-January through early December with private studios and access to Wyoming's natural beauty in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains. We welcome visual artists in all mediums; writers in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry; and composers in all genres of music.

Applicants must be 25 years of age to be eligible for a residency. Applicants must also be US citizens or reside in the US during the year of the residency for which they are applying. Applicants in post-doc programs are eligible for a residency; students enrolled full-time (9 hours or more) in an academic program are not.

Five new and two renovated structures evoke the agricultural and historical setting of the Lower Piney Creek Valley and echo the sweeping lines of the foothills and mountains. Accommodations for each resident include a private room, a shared living area and kitchen, and a separate studio space.

Hedgebrook is on Whidbey Island, WA, situated on 48-acres of forest and meadow facing the Salish Sea, with a view of Mount Rainier. The retreat hosts writers from all over the world for free-to-writers residencies (excluding travel) of two or three weeks. Our residency hosts up to 7 women-identified writers, 18 and older, at at one time, each housed in a handcrafted cottage. Meals are lovingly prepared by our chefs daily, and writers come together each evening for a communal gathering.  

Grand Canyon Conservancy’s residency programs support Grand Canyon National Park’s priorities of dark sky preservation and inclusive storytelling by welcoming artists, scholars, and scientists from throughout the world to explore and contribute to Grand Canyon’s historic and cultural legacy. Our artists and astronomers engage the public in meaningful ways, adding to the collective scholarship on the region, and celebrating the rich environmental, spiritual, and cultural impact of Grand Canyon.

Caldera's mission is to inspire and support youth from underserved urban and rural communities by awakening the potential of their creative voice. Our Artists in Residence program expands our creative ecosystem and showcases artists who often reflect the population of our young learners. 

Caldera Artists in Residence offers artists of any discipline to find inspiration from the natural world at Caldera’s property in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Central Oregon. Expanding Caldera’s creative ecosystem of more than 300 artists, our residency program showcases diverse adult learners and connects artist residents with Caldera youth.

Caldera’s Artists in Residence (AiR) program supports artists, creatives, and cultural workers in continuing to unlock the potential of their creative voice in adulthood. Specifically, AiR builds skills, relationships, and projects that inspire growth and activate change.

Bunnell Street Arts Center's "Alaska AIR" Artist in Residence program invites artists to explore creative placemaking and themes such as accessibility, equity & inclusion, decolonization, sustainability, anti-racism, skills sharing and exchange, community wellbeing, and more. Bunnell sparks artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska. Artist-led projects may be in any media or genre.

Belwin is a land-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting wild spaces and connecting people to nature. Just 15 miles from St. Paul, Belwin protects over 1,500 acres of prairie, savanna, and woodlands in Minnesota’s Saint Croix Valley region. 

Starting in 2016, Belwin has operated an annual artist-in-residency program for artists of all mediums. Beginning in 2023, artists in residence were selected through a partnership with Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery.

Antenna is a 501(c)(3) non-profit multidisciplinary cultural institution presenting exhibitions, public programs, publishing, and regranting located in New Orleans. Antenna supports artists and writers so that they can contextualize contemporary life, create cultural capital and societal change through their work. Antenna offers opportunities for exhibitions, re-granting, residencies, publishing, and public engagement to artists, writers, and cultural bearers at all levels of their careers.

ACRE’s Residency Program takes place every summer in the Driftless region of Wisconsin. Set on 1,000 acres of wetland, hills, and farmland, the residency hosts emerging artists who live and work in a communal setting that includes expansive work spaces, kitchen serving three meals per day, performance stage, wood shop, art and tech facility, and sound, fiber, screenprinting, metalwork, and ceramics studios. A visiting artist program and in-depth demos and workshops are also offered to residents.

The New Quorum brings musicians and writers from across the globe to New Orleans for cultural exchange with local and regional artists. We promote and facilitate cultural exchange through our Residency program, producing cultural events, and an exchange program that provides New Orleans artists with opportunities outside the city. An emphasis is on professional development and career support to New Orleans’ varied community of artists while disseminating the city's unique culture worldwide.

The Mesa Refuge offers creative residencies for writers, activists and artists working for social change. It is our priority to support those focusing on “ideas at the edge” of three areas—environment, economic equity and social justice. The Mesa Refuge has supported more than 1,000 change-making writers, audio journalists, film makers, and artists in the past 25 years.
