Fall 2024 Residency Program at Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild

Associated Residency Program

Byrdcliffe’s Artists-in-Residence (AiR) program offers artists in all disciplines uninterrupted time
to live and work within the serene natural setting and creative community of Woodstock’s
historic Byrdcliffe Arts Colony, one of the earliest utopian and continuously operating arts
colonies in America.

Fall 2024 options include 2-to-4-month long residencies in our historic Byrdcliffe cottages.
Cottage residencies offer artists extending time living and working in Arts & Crafts style
residence/studio cottages. Constructed in 1902-03, these cottages were part of the original
Byrdcliffe Arts Colony. Each Cottage is each unique in size and layout. Individuals, co-applicants,
and other variations may apply. While more autonomous by nature, cottage residents are
welcome to participate in all AiR gatherings and programmatic offerings including Open Studio
events and the annual AiR exhibition.

The main criterion for acceptance to Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is artistic excellence and
demonstrated commitment to one’s field of endeavor. Artists working in a range of disciplines
are encouraged to apply including writing, visual arts, weaving, ceramics, music, composition,
photography, filmmaking, dance, and multi-disciplinary practices. A selection of artistic merit
and financial need fellowships are available each year, covering partial to full residency fees.
