Located in the historic town of Hillsboro, Virginia, the Farwell Cottage hosts 1-3 residents in the month of January every year. The focus of this residency is community engagement through various creative opportunities—including workshops, open studios, walks, talks, parades, or friendly waves from the front porch! Opportunities to participate in a Farwell Cottage Residency will be announced by an Open Call when applicable.

Preference is given to LGBTQIA+ artists, but all artists are considered.  Selection is based on whether the proposed work is relevant to the town and its community.   Projects which examine the history of the area (including racial and identity histories,) gardening, agriculture, geography, and community engagement are prioritized.

As a 18th-century building in a confined lot, the home is generally not accessible for artists with disabilities that limit mobility.

Participation as a speaker or panel-member for a salon-type presentation is required (Eat, Drink, and Be Literary Series) and comes with a stipend.  Open studio preferred.  Workshops and collaborations encouraged but not required.

Living space is a 18th century stone house with all amenities.  Depending upon the artist's proposed intention, there are space workspaces within the home and other workspace can be arranged outside of the living space.
 

There is NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION in this area and very minimal conveniences in the town itself, so a vehicle or other ride arrangement is required.

The Residencia Corazón – Artist in Residency (A-I-R) Program was initiated in 2006. Its main objective engenders the creation of a personalized and independent exchange among regional, national and international artists. It allows for mutual enrichment through professional and emotive approaches for new experiences and aesthetic realities. The resident / visiting artists enjoy a dynamic and vibrant time frame for working; they have a studio and living space at their disposal to complete their projects. They also network with and within the local art community, cultural institutions and the public at large.
Residencia Corazón offers a complete international Artist in Residency Program. Each artist, curator or writer receives exclusive and highly-personalized support from the Residencia Corazón team.
Our project is characterized by trying a close, intimate relationship with each resident, proposing that the stay transcends the artistic purpose and that their journey is printed as a learning adventure that they will treasure throughout their lives.

Westerly, RI is a growing arts community. There are already a number of anchors in Westerly to support the arts including the United, Knickerbocker, the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, the Chorus of Westerly, the Hoxie Gallery at Westerly Library, Colonial Theatre, Granite Theatre, and increasing awareness and appreciation of the arts. 

In the heart of downtown Westerly and part of the arts community, Westerly Library and Wilcox Park believes the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program further nurtures our arts community through cooperative support and education; it will provide artists an opportunity to work on and share their art, and encourage creativity and artistry in all community members and visitors.

Westerly Library & Wilcox Park's AIR program is designed to encourage the creative, intellectual and personal growth of emerging and established artists. It is expected that artists have sufficient skills and experience to work independently in their studio area. The residency is designed to allow artists to take risks and pursue new projects and ideas, free from everyday pressures. 

The Artist-in-Residence (AIR) also expands Westerly Library and Wilcox Park’s impact on local art and culture, offers public engagement, promotes community connections, and provides creative and educational opportunities for the community while supporting cultural and artistic exchange.

Located in the heart of Barcelona, ​​Printmaking Barcelona has been, since 1986, an artistic studio for artists to develop their works in the field of chalcographic engraving. Using essential techniques such as monotypes, etching, aquatint, mezzotint, carbourundum among others. In recent years, we have introduced other printing or developing techniques such as screen printing, cyanotype, photoetching, linocut...

We offer the artist the possibility of working in a space dedicated to printmaking and arts in general, ​​surrounded by emblematic places of the city.

The main objective of the Printmaking Barcelona Resident Program is for artists (whether new or experts) to feel in a place that inspires them to carry out their work. Surrounded by a unique environment and with professionals with extensive experience who will guide them to achieve the best possible results in their works of art.

In addition to a space equipped with everything you need, we also offer training in the different techniques that we carry out when we opened the studio. It doesn't matter that you don't have experience, the important thing is that you want to learn.
At the end of the residency, we offer the possibility of selling the works through our virtual gallery, as well as publishing the work on our social networks.

The studio has all the necessary machinery and tools to work on engraving and printing techniques.

Boise City Department of Arts & History invites  emerging and mid-career artists in any creative field to apply for a two-week or a two-month residency at the James Castle House in Boise, Idaho. 

This residency invites artists to immerse themselves in the historic site where James Castle lived and worked for the last 46 years of his life. Artists are asked to explore the house, its history, and the surrounding landscape, and respond to their experience through the creation of new works. Residents will share their creative practice and process with our community through one public event during their stay.

Each residency cycle provides one participant with private furnished living quarters, 24-hour studio access, and a $1,000 stipend for a two-week residency or a $4,000 stipend for a two-month residency to assist with living expenses and supplies necessary to create work. The resident is responsible for travel and shipping expenses.

Through this program, the James Castle House keeps the legacy of daily creativity and experimentation alive on-site, cultivating a growing local and national community and providing a deeper understanding of James Castle and the place he called home. 

*Please note that this is a solo residency. The selected participant will have regular contact with staff at the James Castle House and members of the Boise community, but they will reside alone. 

 

Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill offers 3 month Ceramic Artist in Residence Programs during the winter, which are designed to provide time and facilities to artists looking for a concentrated creative experience. Our goal is to give driven and self-directed artists the opportunity to enhance their personal, intellectual and creative growth by expanding their body of work or creating a specific project. Free from the distractions of every day pressures, residents will be given time and space to concentrate on their work in the beautiful setting of Cape Cod and will be awarded a shared exhibition in the Castle Hill gallery upon completion of their stay.

The residencies run from January to March  and include housing and studio space for $500/month. Residents will be selected based on a review of application materials. Each resident will have personal workspace in a shared studio and open access to the communal ceramics studio and kilns. Materials and firing fees are payable through Castle Hill at a discounted rate. Residents will have a furnished apartment equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, laundry and internet access. It is highly recommended to have a car, as there is limited public transportation and no grocery store within walking distance.

Located in the remote tropical mountain jungle, Mauser Ecohouse creates a unique tranquil, inspirational, health-conscious, and community-minded living experience for the artists. The Mauser EcoHouse is situated in the beautiful rural Central Pacific region of Costa Rica on a 3 acre plot concealed in the lush jungle mountains.

We offer residencies for a period of one month or more year-round for visual, performance, and literary artists. We encourage artists with a concentration in other fields to apply, as acceptance into the program will be judged on an individual basis.

We invite applications from individual artists, artistic collectives, and organizations worldwide. Artists of all ages (21+), at various stages of practice, cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and expressions are encouraged to apply.

Because we truly believed that being comfortable is more important than anything, Mauser Ecohouse offers a 6,000 square ft. Spanish Style villa including:

- 2 private rooms, each with matrimonial bed and private bathroom

- 1 communal bedroom with 2 XL bunk beds plus 2 single beds sharing a large bathroom with Jacuzzi included

-1 deluxe suit provided with king bed, private bathroom, studio and garden

All beds are made by local artisan with wood repurposed from fallen trees. In addition, we have a spacious veranda equipped with sofas, chairs and little tables to enjoy the view and feel inspired by the surrounding. 4 colorful hammocks designed with love decorate the house and are available for our residents.

Vegetarian meals are provided for breakfast and dinner, Monday through Friday

The invitation for our Open Residency 2024 is extended to artists and creatives in the following plastic arts; visual arts, literature, performing arts, digital arts, and cinematography.  Residencies have a minimum stay of two weeks and may begin preferably on Sunday. 

Location and facilities

The residence is located in the historic town of Atotonilco, 20 minutes from the center of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in central Mexico.

During their stay, residents may or may not have other artists living on campus, depending on selected time of residency. Residents will be able to participate in exhibitions, presentations, workshops, open studios and other activities organized periodically by Camino Al Arte.

One-week Art Residency Retreat stays. These retreats can accommodate up to 4 creatives during any one week period (a collaborative studio experience is possible).  Accommodations and family-style dinners Included.  Light your creative process on fire or release it slowly in this beautiful setting on the water. Approximately an hour from Acadia Nat'l Park & Bar Harbor and to the Canadian border and Campobello Island.
