The Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) Artist-In-Residence program is designed to host individual artists with a well-developed body of work that engages contemporary themes -- especially those tied to conservation, cultural identity, and community. The residency prioritizes artists whose work and public programs are site-specific and best fit the goals of telling stories that have been excluded, hidden, unknown, untold, or under-emphasized.  The residency embraces an artist-focused, open-ended model that prioritizes on-site research and exploration in the interest of creating deeper personal and public relationships with the Grand Canyon. While the residency is a highly immersive experience and community outreach is an important aspect of the engagement, artists can spend time on-site as they wish. 

We are building a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-generational cooperative of creatives, educators, and farmers with a common mission to create a community based on shared values and democratic principles. We believe in sustainable living through regenerative agriculture, community outreach, education, and inclusivity. 

We are guests and caretakers of 66 acres of wooded property with trails, forest, fields, and streams in the lush green mountains of unceded Abenaki land in Fletcher, Vermont. Join us to begin conversations around social, racial, and environmental justice and the role we, as artist/educators/activists, play in uplifting the next generation of artist/activist leaders! We have beautiful outdoor spaces for plein air painting, abundant woods for crafting and sculpting with natural materials, and woods to explore for inspiration and contemplation. Bring your sustainable art supplies, small tools, sketchbooks, and wisdom, to make art, grow food, and be the change we want to see in the world!

We offer short term (2 week) and long term (4, 6 & 8 week) residencies. You may stay in the Kindred House, Kindred Red Cabin, Yurt, or camp in a three season tent.  Our residency is meant to inspire you, offer a place to rest, and support creativity surrounded by nature.  Artists, writers, think-tanks, educators and learners, farmers and community activists, and culture workers are invited to apply.

Fountainhead Residency provides artists with connections to thrive in their careers and a nurturing environment to create, converse, inspire and be inspired.

During each month-long residency, artists are personally introduced to nationally recognized curators, collectors, and gallerists for one-on-one studio visits, offering a one-of-kind opportunity for mentorship, insight, and perspective on their work. They are invited to experiment, investigate, and reflect, while being immersed in the local cultural landscape. Artists-in-residence receive roundtrip airfare, living and working accommodations and a stipend. They meet local artists and explore Miami’s major museums, collections and galleries. Attorneys, financial professionals and business consultants are available for critical entrepreneurial guidance.

At the end of each month, Fountainhead welcomes the public into the residency to meet the artists, view their work, and learn what inspires them. In pursuit of supporting artists financially, works are made available for sale, and the organization works directly with the artist and honors any gallery representation agreements to facilitate these sales. We are excited to announce the evolving relationship between our two technical residency programs that will be concurrently hosted at our partner campus Camp Colton, in fall 2022 and spring 2023. Applications are now open to apply to either our letterpress printing focused residency, or our hand papermaking focused residency. There is no fee to apply or participate, more details on the application process below.

For both residencies we are hoping to engage with artists working with the theme(s) of land, flora and fauna, place, craft, ancestral knowledge, time and related themes. Successful applicants will speak to how their art/craft practice relates to these ideas. Examples of experimentation with process and connection to materiality are also encouraged via applicant work samples.

By hosting these residencies concurrently, we envision opportunities for convergence and conversation between these allied art forms as well as between the residents. The rural, secluded setting of Camp Colton grounds the residencies in connection to nature and provides time for focused engagement with craft.

To walk among the whispers of friendly ghosts and pastoral splendor. Quiet nights and productive, inspiring days, imaginative minds awakening, sweet music originating, the savory aroma of a country meal, the satisfaction of a finished page or canvas. The Bowers House Creative Retreat offers customized workspace for artists and academic residency programs in literature, music and some fine art disciplines. We are currently accepting applications for minimum one week group or single residencies, where baths and kitchens are shared and clean up is essential. Resident members agree to provide for film and audio programming a recap or focus of their creative work via readings, concerts, public performances interviews workshop directorships or lessons for BOWERS HOUR, the fundraising programming program that keeps the facility on a perpetual operation. Visiting guests may be present, and room and facility rentals keep the lights on in the 100 year old hotel, and cooperation and quiet consideration of work day time is observed by all who stay here. We welcome collaborative production and cosponsorship when possible with the missionl of one day being able to provide this opportunity to those who might night be otherwise able to have this residency experience.

The Nicholson Project is an artist residency program coupled with a neighborhood garden that works to support artists and serve as a creative and innovative cultural hub. We aim to become a community anchor that celebrates the community’s authentic identity while infusing new vibrancy into Southeast DC. Our Residency Program provides the time, space, and support needed for artists to work on their studio practice and produce onsite activations.

The Nicholson Project was founded in with a deep commitment to providing artists with space and support to create and further their practice. We want you to feel 100% supported during your time at Nicholson and beyond. As part of your acceptance, you will receive the following:

Mesa Refuge welcomes a diverse group of writers, filmmakers, audio journalists and other creatives—both emerging and established—who are defining and/or offering solutions to the pressing issues of our time. Particularly, it is our priority to support writers focusing on “ideas at the edge” in the areas of environment, social justice and economic equity. We invite you to apply for our residency. Our spring and fall residencies are two-weeks long and there is no residency fee (though you are responsible for your own travel, transportation and food).

The Santa Fe Art Institute Thematic Residency Program supports dynamic creative practices that engage complex social issues, inspire individual transformation, and inform collective action. SFAI welcomes local, national, and international applicants of all backgrounds.

From the start, SFAI’s programming was developed and informed by artists, who worked to bring awareness to the shifting relationship between art and society, and to redefine and disrupt the traditional gatekeeping roles of art institutions, including outdated labels such as “master” artist.

While our programming, language, and focus has naturally shifted over the years, our mission has remained the same: to foster and explore the interconnections of contemporary art and society, to enliven public discourse on art, and to support and nurture artists at all phases of their careers.
