Bethany Arts Community is a space and environment where all forms of art can be learned and expressed. Nurturing the creative process, Bethany welcomes artists, from young to old, and all levels of skill, to explore and create art that the community can engage with. Bethany fosters sharing, connection, and collaboration, in an inclusive culture where people experience the power of art to improve lives and deepen their perceptions and perspectives of the world.

Established in 1982, the prestigious Core Residency Program at the Glassell School of Art awards residencies to exceptional, highly motivated emerging artists and critical writers committed to developing a sustainable practice.

The Archie Bray Foundation is actively committed to promoting, celebrating, and sustaining the ceramic arts through the residency program, education, gallery, ceramic materials and technology, and community engagement on a local, national, and international scale. In the words of Archie himself, The Bray makes available, “for all who are seriously and sincerely interested in any of the branches of the ceramic arts, a fine place to work”.

Stove Works offers three core programs: Residency, Exhibitions, and Public Programming. Highlighting Contemporary Practice, our programs are designed with fluidity in mind, allowing us to not only guide but to respond. Our goal is to cultivate a climate and culture in Chattanooga that stimulates curiosity amongst its communities, enthusiasm for exchange, and openness to new ideas and contrasting perspectives. All of our programs are free to attend. 

Overlooking Cook Inlet and the heart-stopping grandeur of the Aleutian Mountain Range, Storyknife Writers Retreat, a literary nonprofit located in Homer, Alaska, hosts residencies for women from Alaska, across the United States, and internationally. Our mission is to give women writers the time and space to explore their craft without distraction. Storyknife provides women with a community to support their efforts, lifting their voices.

Open AIR is a place-based Artist-in-Residence program that connects artists from all disciplines and origins, with culturally, historically, and ecologically significant locations through collaborative partnerships in Montana.

With innovative opportunities available in places such as remote wilderness areas to historically significant sites closer to town, artists have the opportunity to draw inspiration from a regional community dedicated to preserving place, environment, and the arts.
 

The Good Hart Artist Residency located in Good Hart, Michigan offers 2-3 week residencies to dedicated visual artists, writers, and composers. The residency provides a 1,150 sqft residency and a 24×14 detached studio, food, a $500.00 stipend, and a quiet setting to concentrate on creative work. The resident artist is housed in a rural area within walking distance of Lake Michigan and the village of Good Hart, along the “Tunnel of Trees,” a Scenic Heritage Route. 

The Emmanuel College Art Department offers a six-week artist residency to four artists each summer. The residency supports a diverse group of artists, providing uninterrupted time and space for established and emerging artists to develop their work.   

The Art Department specifically aims to award a residency to one individual from each of the four categories: ceramics, photography, printmaking and social practice. We strive to foster a supportive environment so artists have the opportunity to achieve their creative and artistic goals. The residency also plays an important role in advancing the visual arts on the Emmanuel campus, making contemporary art accessible to students, staff, and faculty.
