Unfortunately we are still self-funded, we need some income to operate. This will hopefully change in the future once the residency brings in more external funding.  Of course external grants or funding is available in many places, if you need any assistance with that or documentation we are more than happy to work with you.  We highly recommend at least one full week, but are flexible if you have a specific idea.  Some occasions we might have work studies available.

  • Weekly stay: $600 to the residency for room and board. This covers food on board but not things like restaurants and museums on shore.
  • Daily stay: $80 for any extra days you stay under 7 in a row
  • Monthly stay: $1800 If for example you start weekly and end up staying a month, you will qualify for monthly.

Our goal is to share this incredible experience with artists to facilitate their conceptual and technical growth; your journey starts with an email. We hope to hear from you soon.

Costs: $700 per person includes all of our facilities and the grounds, and running the evening workshops, one-hour one-on-one meet ups with the participants, and our support onsite (Note: participants are responsible for their own meals.) We have one spot available for $600: the fold out sofa in the bridge house. While this space has spectacular views of the river running below, it is admittedly less private than the other areas, although it has plenty of space, full closet, desk, etc. If you’re a laid-back, adventurous traveler who would like to save a little dough, and if this feels like a good fit for you, please indicate on your app. Join us—apply Today!

Amenities and Shared Spaces: The bridge house has a full-sized bed and a comfortable, queen-sized sofa bed with stunning views of the river far below on each side in the living room, as well as a kitchenette and bathroom, a four-seater dining table, and a library. The boutique apartment includes two private bedrooms, a full kitchen, a lounge, and a wraparound porch with plenty of outdoor seating. Kitchens are fully stocked with cookware, dishes, condiments, coffee and tea. There are common areas within both the bridge house and the boutique apartment that are intended to be shared by all, such as the fire pit, the lounges, and outdoor areas, but each writer will have a private space— and we’ve made every effort to make each spot special! We have high-speed internet and wi-fi throughout the property, as well as Roku, DVD players, and speakers in both spaces, and a plethora of games, books, and puzzles throughout. The small town of Ashland City has grocery stores, drugstores, coffee shops, and hiking nearby. For outdoor fun, enjoy the hammock, a picnic table, two fire pits, an ample rolling lawn, take a walk deep in the woods, or wade in the crystal clear, spring-fed creek.

RDW Glass, Green City Studios

RDW Glass Ltd is a small, family-run architectural decorative  glass company based in the East End of Glasgow, Scotland. Our studio offers the design, manufacture, installation and repair of stained glass, etched glass and fused glass windows. Projects range from small domestic repairs and home renovations to full church restorations.

Alongside our commissioned work, we run a wide range of evening and weekend classes in stained glass, welcoming beginners as well as experienced makers. We also offer studio space and equipment hire for artists who wish to work with glass in a supportive workshop environment. A key part of our work involves creating community-made stained glass windows that showcase working-class histories and local social heritage. Internationalist perspectives and approaches are vital to our quest to  build solidarity across the sector and gain new insights and skills not just as teachers but as artists connected in a global network. These projects are developed in collaboration with community groups across Scotland and beyond, and the finished windows are gifted to local libraries or other public buildings so they can be publicly displayed and enjoyed.

We feel strongly about providing a welcoming and supportive environment for the artists who work and learn in our studio. We aim to foster a culture of care where people feel encouraged, respected and able to develop their skills and creativity at their own pace. Alongside studio-based learning, we are also interested in creating opportunities and shared experiences beyond the workshop. By connecting with what is happening across the city (exhibitions, heritage sites, community projects and cultural events), we encourage artists to engage with the wider creative landscape and allow these experiences to inform and inspire their work.

Stained glass is an endangered craft, and we are passionate about preserving these traditional skills while making them more accessible to new generations of makers. Through our teaching, restoration work and community engagement, we aim to keep the art form alive and thriving.

Mattering Worlds: Media Art in More-Than-Human Ethics and Ecologies

Yerevan, Armenia

Mattering Worlds is an international media art residency exploring artistic practice in relation to more-than-human ecologies, technological infrastructures, and environmental transformation. Hosted by Ars Techne in Armenia, the program brings together artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners working across disciplines such as media art, sound, bioart, speculative design, and critical technology studies.

The residency supports research-driven and process-based artistic work that engages with ecological responsibility, situated knowledge, and experimental forms of collaboration. Participants are encouraged to develop projects that reflect on planetary conditions, local contexts, and the entanglements between human and non-human agencies. Rather than focusing solely on production, the program emphasizes dialogue, field inquiry, collective learning, and public engagement.

Residents take part in workshops, site visits, reading sessions, and open studio moments, while also contributing to Ars Techne’s public program through talks, presentations, or small-scale interventions. The residency aims to foster meaningful exchange between international and local communities, strengthen interdisciplinary networks, and create space for critical reflection on how artistic practices can respond to contemporary ecological and technological challenges.

Additional Eligibility Information

Mattering Worlds is open to media artists, researchers, and interdisciplinary practitioners from any country and at any career stage. Individuals, duos, and collectives working with ecological, posthumanist, material-focused, or technologically engaged practices are encouraged to apply. No academic degree is required.

The residency welcomes process-based, research-driven artistic approaches that explore relationships between humans, technologies, natural systems, and material forces. Applicants should demonstrate openness to experimentation, dialogue, and collaborative exchange within a shared learning environment.

Participants are expected to take part in public engagement formats such as talks, workshops, or open studios and to work within the residency’s shared-responsibility model. This includes covering travel, accommodation, and project production costs, as well as contributing a modest curatorial fee that supports mentoring and community programming.

– Portfolio (6–12 works with descriptions)
– CV or short biography
– Preferred residency dates
– Location preference (Yerevan / Gyumri / both)
– Technical or spatial needs
– Optional links (website, video, documentation)
