Creative Residency at O Castro Art Village

O Saviñao, Lugo, Spain

O Castro Art Village is a rural creative residency in Galicia, Spain, located in the forested hills and river valleys of Ribeira Sacra. The residency supports artists, filmmakers, writers, researchers, and independent creatives seeking focused time in a calm, comfortable, and inspiring environment.

Residents stay in sustainably built geodesic domes designed for year-round use, offering privacy, warmth in winter, coolness in summer, and views of either the Miño River valley or the surrounding oak forest. A shared studio loft provides desks, a large work table, lounge areas, and projection facilities, while outdoor spaces and the landscape itself invite site-responsive work.

Community life centers around a communal kitchen where residents cook individually or together, often sharing meals, conversations, and ideas. Optional mentorship with filmmaker Davoud Gerami is available for residents working in film, visual, sound, and regenerative arts, drawing on over 25 years of professional experience.

O Castro emphasises sustainability, low-impact living, and deep engagement with place. Residencies balance solitude and exchange, supporting meaningful research, experimentation, and creative production within a thoughtful rural context.

Additional Accessibility Information

O Castro Art Village is located in a forested, mountainous area of rural Galicia. The terrain is uneven and includes steep paths between parking areas, accommodation, and shared facilities. While one geodesic dome and the communal kitchen are designed to be accessible for guests with mobility needs, the path from the parking area to the domes is steep and may require assistance.

Please note that the shared studio loft is not wheelchair accessible due to the structure of the restored stone building. Artists with accessibility needs are therefore encouraged to plan to work primarily from their dome, which can function as a private workspace, while still participating in shared meals and community life in the kitchen.

We encourage applicants with accessibility concerns to contact us in advance so we can discuss individual needs and assess whether the residency is a suitable fit.

North Louisiana Arts Interchange

Ruston, LA, United States

The North Louisiana Arts Interchange is open to visual artists in the United States with preference given to artists based in Louisiana and surrounding states. Each year’s cohort is made up of a unique mix of artists who are lead through various exercises and conversations that lead them to a summer of collaboration, ultimately ending in an exhibit in Ruston, LA.

In its current form, Arts Interchange is described as a “baby residency,” allowing artists to step out of their regular practices and explore new experiences without significantly disrupting their daily lives. The program accommodates practicing artists, educators, students, and aspiring full-time artists, enabling them to fit the activities into their weekly schedules while maintaining their other commitments. For emerging and younger artists, Arts Interchange offers an opportunity to expand their practices and build valuable connections with fellow artists. For more seasoned participants, the program provides a refreshing break, allowing them to explore new ideas and collaborations that can reinvigorate their creative practices.

At its core, Arts Interchange brings together eight artists to talk, play, and collaborate, fostering a deeper understanding of one another and themselves. Through this experience, the program aims to leave participants with new friendships, innovative ideas, and a renewed relationship with their art.

Azule - Appalachian Artist Residence

Hot Springs, NC, United States

As an emerging community-based organization, Azule has developed a retreat and residency program for craftspeople, writers, architects, builders, researchers, and artists of all types. Azule’s mission is to provide an environment where artists and community meet, work, and learn together through the arts in their many forms. Located in Western North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, our facility is the result of decades of work by local craftspeople, using predominantly locally harvested or reused materials and constructed with traditional techniques.

Residents are each provided a room (shared or private) with a bed, work space, and beautiful views of our Appalachian setting. The remainder of the structure is communal and includes a full kitchen, dining area, library, and various side rooms and open spaces that serve as work space, gathering space, and studio space as needed.

We invite residents to join us to enjoy a retreat from everyday life where there is time and space to relax, dream, and create. We now accept and process applications on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

Creative Destiny Artist Residency was born on the land where the little red barn with a church window
casts a soft, steady light across the land and inner sanctum, illuminating the quiet places where
creativity begins. It is a place of reflection, healing, and creative spark. It is a sanctuary for artists seeking renewal and deeper purpose.

Here, the residency unfolds like a gentle invitation. Artists arrive carrying their questions, their hopes,
their unfinished work, and the parts of themselves that need tending. The land meets them with
stillness. The community meets them with warmth.

This residency is built on presence, not pressure or production. On listening inward. On
trusting the quiet voice that guides the creative path. Artists are encouraged to explore, rest,
experiment, and reconnect with the inner maker who knows the way forward.

We support artists through a restorative environment rooted in
reflection, nourishment, and creative exploration. Artists reconnect with their inner maker and step
confidently into the destiny that calls to them, illuminating pathways of purpose for creative expression.

Our hope is that every artist who comes here leaves with renewed clarity, deeper courage, and a sense of alignment with
their creative destiny.

Truro, MA, United States

The Truro Clay Works Artist Residency invites three ceramicists to join our creative community for a one-year term starting October 5 of 2026. Residents live in a large fully furnished communal home with private bedrooms, two full shared bathrooms, living room, laundry room, pantry and kitchen. There is 24-hour access to a separate and fully equipped communal ceramic studio on site. This is a great opportunity for an artist to explore a new body of work or collaboration. The residency is designed for independent artists who appreciate both quiet focus and a shared creative environment — a place where craft, nature, and community intersect. We welcome ceramic artists of all backgrounds and approaches — from functional pottery to sculptural and experimental work.

Artists with experience in glaze chemistry, gas kiln oxidation and reduction firing and/or skills teaching hand building are particularly encouraged to apply.

This residency is ideal for those seeking dedicated studio time within a supportive, relaxed environment surrounded by nature. Applicants must be self motivated and independent in their personal studio practices as well as being community minded.

Fees are $1,500 per month, which includes housing, utilities, full access to the studio and 50lbs of clay each month. Additional clay can be purchased at cost.

Residents are expected to contribute an exchange of 16 hours per month, approximately 4 hours per week, toward the shared operations of Truro Clay Works.

TROPICAL ART RETREAT

Cultivarte is an ecological artist residency located in the warm and peaceful mountains of Anapoima, Colombia. Our program offers artists, writers, and creatives a quiet and inspiring environment to deepen their practice, rest, reconnect, and develop new ideas. Surrounded by nature, residents have access to open studio space, simple and comfortable accommodations, gardens, walking trails, and areas for reflection, movement, and creative experimentation.

We welcome artists from any discipline and from anywhere in the world. Cultivarte operates as a self-sustained, fee-based residency, with stays designed to support both creative focus and personal well-being. Residents are free to work independently at their own pace while also having the option to participate in community-building activities and gentle wellness practices.

Our aim is to offer a nurturing place where creativity, nature, and inner balance meet, allowing artists to unwind, explore, and create in a supportive and tranquil setting.

Trinacria Festival Residency

Messina, ME, Italy

The Trinacria Festival Residency is a 3-week, community-centered program designed for professional artists whose work directly engages the Pezzolo community. The dates of the program are July 24 - August 13, 2026.

We will select five to six artists or small collectives (no more than 3 collaborators) whose practices engage with Pezzolo in thoughtful and meaningful ways—through collaboration, cultural exchange, site-responsive work, or processes shaped by dialogue with the village and its landscape.

Selected artists will develop individual projects (new or evolving) that culminate in a public presentation at the annual Trinacria Arts Festival. Community engagement and participation is at the core of this Festival.

Artists will receive:

  • A structured residency environment
  • Regular group sharings and workshops
  • Accommodation and meals
  • Local transportation support
  • Workspace
  • A small materials budget
  • Support in developing a public presentation for the festival

The experience offers artists the opportunity to create in a dynamic environment while fostering meaningful connections with the local community.  It is ideal for artists excited by community connection, interdisciplinary exchange, and the challenge of shaping a new or evolving work toward a shared public moment.

Additional Accessibility Information
  • Mobility: Our residency takes place in a village that is over 800 years old and was built on a mountainside. Unfortunately, many parts of the village are only accessible by footpath or stairs. The living quarters of Casa Trinacria can only be accessed by stairs.
  • Distance: The village of Pezzolo is separated from surrounding towns by a winding drive up a mountain road. This road is 7km long and takes approx. 15 - 20 minutes to drive. It may be challenging for inexperienced drivers or those who experience motion sickness.
  • Amenities: There is only one business remaining open in Pezzolo, which is a small butcher shop. The butcher shop also stocks a few other dry goods, such as pasta, rice, canned goods, beer, cleaning supplies, and other necessities. There is also a small pharmacy which operates on very limited hours. For all other amenities (such as grocery stores, supply shops, post office, ATM, etc.), it is necessary to drive to nearby towns, a drive which takes at least 15 - 20 min in both directions. Artists are encouraged to keep this in mind in their planning.
  • Wildlife: There are several colonies of feral cats living in Pezzolo. Other local wildlife include small lizards and geckos. Mosquitos are common in the summer. Less commonly seen, but still present in the local area, are garden snakes, hedgehogs, bats, owls, and even occasionally wild boar.
  • Heat: Summer in Sicily is extremely dry, hot, and sunny. Hydration and sun protection are essential. Artists are encouraged to always pack refillable water bottles, sunscreen, and protective coverings such as hats. Tap water in Pezzolo is potable, and there are additional public drinking fountains throughout the village, directly from fresh mountain spring sources, where bottles can be refilled.

  • Working space is allocated and shared based on the needs of the individual artists participating in the residency.
  • Casa Trinacria has a large street-level garage space with a bathroom which can be used as a studio or rehearsal room.
  • We are often able to access the Sala di Santa Maria, a community hall owned by the local parish church. This is a large open space with a small stage and a bathroom.
  • Pezzolo is a village with an abundance of abandoned or semi-abandoned spaces. Our resident artists often elect to create in open or public spaces such as piazzas, streets, and courtyards. We are sometimes able to arrange access to private spaces based on the needs of our participating artists. Prior to your arrival in Sicily, we will have a conversation about your working space needs.
  • Artists should not expect air conditioning in working spaces. If necessary, a fan will be provided.
