Ecology Residency October 2025 - April 2026

Associated Residency Program

In the face of global ecological concerns such as climate change, rising sea levels, deforestation, human overpopulation and species extinction, the mission of the Ecology Residency is to provide ecologists, environmental journalists, filmmakers, inventors, educators, architects and others working on the creative edge of these issues time and space to advance their work and amplify their impact. The Ecology Residency aims to foster a supportive environment for independent work and reflection, and to encourage creative problem solving, collaboration and innovation free from the constraints of academic and institutional settings.

One or more Ecology Residents will be selected each year. Special attention will be given to projects that will directly benefit from proximity to the Oregon coast, the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area, the Salmon River Estuary and/or United States Forest Service Experimental Forest lands. Ecology-inspired and interdisciplinary collaborations will also be considered.

No laboratory or other equipment is provided, but scientists are invited to bring their own equipment if it can be accommodated. There is the possibility to partner with the Hatfield Marine Science Center as part of the Oregon State University's Marine Studies Initiative, and to tap into other academic, scientific and research resources in the region.

Winter 2026 Artist-in-Residence

Associated Residency Program

The McColl Center's internationally acclaimed Artist-in-Residence program serves as a catalyst for growth for emerging and mid-career artists. McColl Center hosts three residency terms per year—fall, winter, and summer, for four artists per term. An artist residency at McColl Center is a moment to think big, take risks in the creative process, and explore ideas within the context of Charlotte.

Artists-in-residence receive private housing adjacent to McColl Center, a large-scale private studio in our historic building in Uptown Charlotte, curatorial guidance, marketing and PR support, and a generous stipend. While in residency, our artists have the freedom to fully focus on artistic research, exploration, and creation while also engaging with the Charlotte artists and collectors community.

The Winter Artist-in-Residence program runs from January 6  - April 13, 2026.

The deadline for applications is April 14, 2025.

2025 Residency Open Call

Associated Residency Program

Loghaven is dedicated to supporting artists with all of the resources needed to create innovative new work. To us, this means not only providing time and space and an inspiring setting; it means financial support. We believe artists should be compensated for their time and their contribution to society. Thus, in addition to underwriting the cost of room and board for the duration of the visit, Loghaven provides a weekly living stipend, travel subsidy, and freight reimbursement for materials shipping.

One of Loghaven’s distinguishing features is our desire to cultivate relationships with Fellows that endure beyond their stay. For over eighty years, this cabin community has been home to artists, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs seeking inspiration in beautiful surroundings. It is our heritage. We consider the Fellows to be members of a longstanding community and have put support structures in place to foster their relationship with Loghaven even after they have completed their residency. Alumni/ae are eligible to receive the Loghaven Prize, in addition to participation in future residencies and programs. We engage alumni/ae through personal outreach, marketing initiatives, and relationship building to promote their work and further their careers.

Residency sessions last from two to eight weeks and are process-oriented. Loghaven is a retreat-based residency, and Fellows are not expected to participate in public events unless they choose to do so. If artists are interested in

2026 Writer-in-Residence Program

Associated Residency Program

Hedgebrook’s Writer-in-Residence Program supports writers from all over the world for residencies of two to three weeks. The cottage, all meals, and the entire residency experience at Hedgebrook is free to selected writers. Travel is not included and is the responsibility of the writer to arrange and pay for. Up to 6 writers can be in residence at a time, each housed in their own handcrafted cottage. They spend their days in solitude – writing, reading, taking walks in the woods on the property or on nearby Double Bluff beach. In the evenings, “The Gathering” is a social time for residents to connect and share over their freshly prepared meals.

Hedgebrook’s mission is to support visionary women-identified writers, 18 and older, whose stories and ideas shape our culture now and for generations to come. Writers must be women, which is inclusive of transgender women and female-identified individuals. Because gender inequity still occurs in all spaces including literary ones, it is part of our explicit mission to support and promote women’s voices. Residents must be willing to adhere to a specific set of health and safety protocols we have implemented to keep writers, staff, and surrounding communities safer.

Our application and adjudication processes are genre-specific. In 2025, we're innovating with an eye toward sustainability and doing things a bit differently. Our 2026 Writer in Residence (WiR) applications are open from February 14 to April 14, 2025 for the following genres: Poetry, Prose-Non-fiction, Prose-Fiction, Playwriting and Screenwriting/TV. Applications are read by jurors who are proficient to read in each genre.

Associated Residency Program

Founded in 1981, by artists for artists, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts facilitates the creation, presentation, and understanding of contemporary art through an international residency program, exhibitions, and educational programs. Located in the historic Old Market, Omaha’s arts and culture district, Bemis Center serves a critical role in the presentation and understanding of contemporary art, bridging the community of Omaha to a global discourse surrounding cultural production today.

Bemis Center’s core mission has always been to provide artists from around the world dedicated time, space, and resources to conduct research and to create new work across conceptual, material, performative, and social practices. The independently driven atmosphere and communal environment encourage creative growth, experimentation, confrontation of challenges, and cultivation of new ideas. To date, more than 1,000 artists have participated in the residency program.
