The Abbey Foundation offers a unique artist-in-residence day use studio space designed to foster creativity and innovation across multiple disciplines. We provide grants to support artists in their projects, enabling them to explore new ideas and develop their work in a nurturing environment. The current facility does not offer live in residencies, but day use studio space with financial support and tools, allowing residents to focus on their artistic processes without the distractions of everyday life. Our goal is to develop a collaborative community, mentorship opportunities, and access to expert guidance. We aim to empower artists at various stages of their careers while promoting diverse artistic expressions.
Building on the local Boonville, CA Arts Community
The Art Residency Program of La Maison de Beaumont is a multi-disciplinary residency that was created with the goal of offering an idyllic space for musicians, scholars, writers, painters and other artists who seek a quiet place to work undisturbed on their art. The scenery and beauty of the region, as well as the history and comfort of the house, provide an ideal setting to focus on creative work. Our Former Residents share their experience in this video : “Day in Life as a Resident“.
La Maison de Beaumont’s residency aims to provide its residents with a holistic experience, allowing them to fully disconnect from their usual point of reference and immerse themselves into the Provençal lifestyle, the essence of which is beauty, simplicity, quality and tranquility. The Luberon region is a special part of Provence which has been so well preserved that it feels like one has travelled back in time. The village of Beaumont-de-Pertuis itself is a medieval town dating back to the 11th century. The town was built on high grounds, surrounded by vineyards, lavender fields and forested hills, making it an ideal setting for meditative hikes and exploration. Our Former Residents have reported feeling revived and inspired after the residency, which brought clarity and focus into their artistic work as well as their personal lives.

The Emmanuel College Art Department offers a six-week artist residency to four artists each summer. The residency supports a diverse group of artists, providing uninterrupted time and space for established and emerging artists to develop their work.
The Art Department specifically aims to award a residency to one individual from each of the four categories: ceramics, photography, printmaking and social practice. We strive to foster a supportive environment so artists have the opportunity to achieve their creative and artistic goals. The residency also plays an important role in advancing the visual arts on the Emmanuel campus, making contemporary art accessible to students, staff, and faculty.
An Art Department studio manager will be available throughout the residency to assist artists with the logistics of the residency. In return, artists contribute to the Emmanuel community through occasional interactions with Emmanuel faculty, staff, and students, and through the single work that each artist donates to Emmanuel College at the completion of their residency. Occasional opportunities for community building with the Emmanuel community may be organized by the Art Department.

Additional Eligibility Information
The four primary eligibility guidelines for the Anderson Center’s Early Career Artist Residency are:
Legal residency in the State of Minnesota or one of the five boroughs of New York City.
Not enrolled in any degree-granting program from time of application through residency period.
Self-identification as an “early career artist” with 2-10 years of generative experience in the field
An artistic practice centered in generating and creating entirely new work.
Please visit the application form for complete details.
DEFINITION OF “EARLY CAREER ARTIST” While the Anderson Center’s general Artist Residency Program hosts artists with a wide range of talent and experience, its Emerging Artist Residency Program exclusively focuses on meeting the specific needs of artists who are in the early stages of their artistic development and career. The Anderson Center’s goal is to support artists early in their careers who create work that is and/or has the potential to be:
Compelling—offering distinctive vision and authentic voice;
Deeply considered, imaginative, and executed with attention to craft and with technical proficiency, providing artistic experiences that communicate unique perspective/s, and invite viewers to question, discover, explore new ideas in new ways;
Innovative and risk-taking—engaging, questioning, challenging or re-imagining conventional artistic forms.
The Anderson Center defines an early career artist as someone in the early stages of their creative development with 2-10 years of generative experience, and:
have a focused direction and goals, even while still developing their artistic “voice”
have yet to be substantially celebrated within their field, the media, funding circles or the public at large
are vocational (as opposed to avocational, academic, amateur or educational) artists
Artists who have been in the field for longer than 10 years (excluding any time in a degree-granting program; as a dancer in work created by others; remounting the work of other choreographers; or time away from working as an artist due to circumstances–e.g., having children, caring for family members, long-term illness, etc.) are generally not eligible, even if they feel under-recognized. Age is not a factor in determining early career artist status.
The Anderson Center at Tower View in Red Wing, Minnesota invites emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, multidisciplinary artists, musicians, performance artists, scholars, translators and more based anywhere in the world to apply for cohort-based residencies in June, July, August and October of 2026. The program is interdisciplinary, and the organization welcomes applications from a wide range of creative and intellectual genres, including those that don't fit neatly into the above list. The application deadline for the Anderson Center’s Artist Residency season is Tuesday,January 13, 2026, at 12 p.m. noon Central Standard Time.
