Sunlit Residency honors the legacy of anthropologist Dr. Sue-Je Lee Gage, pioneering scholar of Amerasians in South Korea, change maker, beloved teacher and mentor whose talents and interests spanned the fine arts, the humanities, and the social sciences. Scholars, artists, writers, and activists are invited to apply for short-term residencies in her Ithaca, NY home to pursue projects related to the passions and interests that motivated Dr. Gage’s work for social justice, human rights, and the arts on a broad scale.

Sunlit Residency offers short-term residencies year-round as well as a fully subsidized competitive summer residency program at Dr. Sue-Je Gage's home, located just outside the Ithaca city limits and the Cornell University campus. Sunlit provides each resident with a private bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, communal, and studio space. Residents will be able to focus on their projects at multiple stages of completion in this comfortable, supportive, and inspiring environment. In addition, Sunlit Residency will provide residents with  library privileges at Ithaca College; they can also access the libraries at Cornell University for a small fee. Residents are also free to pursue opportunities for community engagement during their stay.

V4L initiates and facilitates customized creative residencies across all disciplines. Our focus is on identifying and addressing the themes of rural transition—through participatory research with creatives and communities in the exurban environment of the Shenandoah Valley (Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland.) Our approach is simultaneously artist-initiated and community-driven.

Our program is multi-locational—meaning that we partner to build a network of hosting locations and interested communities in which residents may engage, based on the artist or collective’s intended work.

Residents are given production help and space, administrative assistance, networking opportunities, as well as guidance on local customs and issues relating to contemporary rural life. Open to all artists, movers, scientists, farmers, historians, musicians, writers, journalists, filmmakers, and others.

The Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University offers a five-month residency (January through May 2025) in the Art Department, which is composed of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Ceramics, Fibers and Material Studies, Glass, Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The residency will be awarded to an artist whose work is primarily focused on the history and lived experience of North American federally recognized tribal citizens and who exemplifies the art and activism of the artist Edgar Heap of Birds in bringing attention to the lives, struggles and triumphs of Native Americans. The artist in residence will have the opportunity to mentor and advise Tyler students. The residency will culminate in an exhibition to be held in the Edgar Heap of Birds Family Gallery in Temple Contemporary, Tyler’s center for exhibitions and public programs.

Residency includes:

• Individual studio
• 24-hour access to shared studio facilities and equipment
• $1,500 materials budget
• Opportunity to teach, mentor, and/or advise students
• Participation in a solo exhibition
• Stipend of $3,500 per month

Arts MSU, in partnership with University Health and Wellbeing, is excited to announce the inaugural call for an Artist-in-Residence at Olin Health Center. This initiative promotes a sense of belonging, wellness, and inclusivity among the MSU community through art. We are seeking an artist with experience in
community-engaged mural projects to work in a university health setting. The project will culminate in a new mural installation within the Olin Health Center building on the Michigan State University Campus. The selected artist will work closely with a diverse array of students and staff from the counseling and
psychiatric services at Olin Health Center over the course of the 8-month residency. The goal is to collaboratively design and execute a mural within the student health clinic. 

The Artist-in-Residence project embeds arts in the clinical setting through a new collaboration dedicated to integrating the arts into student wellbeing. By including arts practice into the clinical setting, we aim to improve student health outcomes, specifically within therapeutic groups, and to upgrade the
infrastructure of the clinical building by creating a large mural that speaks to students’ experiences and makes the setting more welcoming and trauma-informed. By incorporating arts practice within therapeutic groups free to students, we reduce barriers to participation.

Located in the historic town of Hillsboro, Virginia, the Farwell Cottage hosts 1-3 residents in the month of January every year. The focus of this residency is community engagement through various creative opportunities—including workshops, open studios, walks, talks, parades, or friendly waves from the front porch! Opportunities to participate in a Farwell Cottage Residency will be announced by an Open Call when applicable.

Preference is given to LGBTQIA+ artists, but all artists are considered.  Selection is based on whether the proposed work is relevant to the town and its community.   Projects which examine the history of the area (including racial and identity histories,) gardening, agriculture, geography, and community engagement are prioritized.

As a 18th-century building in a confined lot, the home is generally not accessible for artists with disabilities that limit mobility.

Participation as a speaker or panel-member for a salon-type presentation is required (Eat, Drink, and Be Literary Series) and comes with a stipend.  Open studio preferred.  Workshops and collaborations encouraged but not required.

Living space is a 18th century stone house with all amenities.  Depending upon the artist's proposed intention, there are space workspaces within the home and other workspace can be arranged outside of the living space.
 

There is NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION in this area and very minimal conveniences in the town itself, so a vehicle or other ride arrangement is required.

The Residencia Corazón – Artist in Residency (A-I-R) Program was initiated in 2006. Its main objective engenders the creation of a personalized and independent exchange among regional, national and international artists. It allows for mutual enrichment through professional and emotive approaches for new experiences and aesthetic realities. The resident / visiting artists enjoy a dynamic and vibrant time frame for working; they have a studio and living space at their disposal to complete their projects. They also network with and within the local art community, cultural institutions and the public at large.
Residencia Corazón offers a complete international Artist in Residency Program. Each artist, curator or writer receives exclusive and highly-personalized support from the Residencia Corazón team.
Our project is characterized by trying a close, intimate relationship with each resident, proposing that the stay transcends the artistic purpose and that their journey is printed as a learning adventure that they will treasure throughout their lives.
