The climate crisis is an urgent global concern. Self as Universe: Mending Our Collective Ecosystem Residencies at A Studio in the Woods invite artists to explore the connections within our collective ecosystems and use the power of imagination to heal the wounds in the relationship between ourselves and our communities. Southeast Louisiana’s land and inhabitants are continually scarred by the effects of environmental degradation. These injuries – the historical to the present – affect our bodies, families, communities, and cultures, as well as the land and its other creatures.  We encourage artists to guide our collective response as the caretakers and caregivers to our universe while bringing wisdom, integrity, optimism, and even humor to intentional and timely projects seeking transformation for our species and planet.

The Monira Foundation’s Performance Residency provides space and time to Performing and Movement-based Artists in the New Jersey/New York area at the Monira Foundation Gallery. Beginning from April 15 to September 15, up to six selected artists or collaborative groups will be granted month-long access to a performance space with a portable sprung wood floor. This opportunity allows artists to utilize the space to support their practices.

The Performance Residency for this year offers a $250 stipend for individuals and $400 for groups (lead applicant). Artists will also have access to a safe and private studio space with windows. The Monira Gallery, measuring 45 ft x 60 ft, features concrete floors and a portable wood floor measuring 12 ft x 30 ft. Marley is available for artists interested in covering the floor. There is a sound system in the space, and selected artists can bring their music devices (with adaptors) to connect to the audio equipment. Artists may also feel free to bring there own.

In addition to providing physical space, residents may receive visits from artists and gain visibility through Monira’s social media and communication channels during their residency.

A 12-week program designed to bring creative minds from around the world to Manchester, NH. Experience an environment that allows creative freedom to discover, define, and refine your creative practice.

The program is designed to support emerging artists with a place to live for up to 3 months. During this time selected applicants can focus full-time on further developing their creative practice as they take steps to cross the bridge into becoming career professionals.

Selected applicants are provided a studio apartment with basic household amenities, heat, hot water, electricity & internet provided. Additionally, each artist is granted a $350 travel stipend and a $1600 stipend that covers food and art supplies.

Each residency concludes with an artist opening celebration. The Opening acts as a solo or duo exhibition to feature each artist’s developing works.  Our onsite event space is set up to feature your installations and presentations to the local community. AIR’s may also organize/host additional public events/programs (artist talks, community dinners, workshops, studio visits, etc.)

The Eureka Springs School of the arts is looking for practicing ceramics artists who are seeking focused time to refine their skills, create work and/or explore new avenues within their medium.

The 2024 ESSA ceramics residency will span approximately 6 weeks from May 1, 2024, through June 15, 2024. Up to two participants will be selected. The deadline for submissions in February 15, 2024 by 5 pm (CST).

This is an opportunity to be inspired by the incredible natural beauty and unique culture of the Ozark Mountains. ESSA is located on an idyllic forested campus 5 miles west of the renowned artist community of Eureka Springs, and within an hour drive of the major cultural institutions of Northwest Arkansas, such as Crystal bridges, The Momentary, the Walton Arts Center, etc. The ESSA campus offers well equipped studios and facilities and comfortable private lodging for our artists in residence, tucked away from the distractions of the outside world.

Selected residents are provided access to ESSA studios, on-campus lodging, an opportunity (not required) to sell their work at a closing reception, and other benefits.

ALCHEMY: an artist-led international residency where food, art, and community come together.

Since 2015, Alchemy has invited artists to connect, collaborate, and reflect in two unique Canadian settings: the Toronto Islands and Prince Edward County. Guided by four pillars—food, art, garden, and table—we document and share art making, meals, and conversation. At Alchemy, artists deepen their practices, exchange ideas, and engage with the people, communities and landscapes that host us.

A community setting for inquiry and discovery

 Through community engagement and commitment to a collaborative process, we collect, tell, and document multiple stories showcasing what compels people to continue to create, grow, farm, and live in two unique communities.

Shared meals, readings and discussions probe the creative intersection of food & art in a community setting & help us better understand the magic & inspiration created by making & sharing art & food.

This residency is for those practicing visual arts, sculpture, photography, craft, food,  performance art, writing, music, and video.

Coordinators:   Claire Tallarico, is a visual artist and chef whose practice explores the everyday rituals of art & food making &  sharing in communities.  Tonia DiRisio is a visual artist  and arts administrator. Her work has developed through ongoing investigations of the growing, making, preserving, celebrating, and sharing of food.
